Kat's POV
"Is she awake?"
"I dunno."
Someone pokes me right in the eye. I recoil with a groan and turn on my other side.
"She's awake!"
Usually I'd be annoyed. Maybe even say something snappy to them. But something's off.
I don't care.
I don't even care that I don't care. I don't care that I don't care that I don't-- well, you get the point.
I sit up. I find my group surrounding me, eyes wide with curiosity. And I smirk, knowing just what to do.
We're going to kill those savages, down to the last one.
Why? Because they're nothing but trouble to us. Cockroaches that need to be exterminated.
"Whoa, take it easy!" Prosper says as I begin to stand.
"What? Why? I feel great. In fact, I've never felt this good in my life," I reply, grinning.
"Or don't. Good thing you're feeling better, we're chasing the savages and neutralizing them, staring today. We weren't sure if you were able to tag along."
"I'm well aware of the mission."
We leave that evening. Striding through the forest and eventually zooming across it with our motor bikes, confidence surges through me. We are the superior beings on Earth. And superior beings are predators, which means we have to hunt our prey. It's just the circle of life.
