The Secret Heels

Chapter 4

Chapter Four

Hannah was the one to go Australia where she finds an abandoned home and sneaks in the back door to sleep at night and during the day she steals for survival. First thing she got was hair dye and foundation that was two shades lighter than she was and a cheap bottle of spray tan that was also two shades lighter with clothes that were generic and didn't have a sense of personality. The hair color she chose was bleach blonde which was a big change from her caramel brown hair color. She was set to survive in Australia until she was reunited with the others and she hoped the day was soon.

Eve went to Paris. She was able to convince the owner of a small shop to let her live in the back as long as she worked for it. Eve changed her hair to a natural red color and got foundation to darken her skin. Her new boss gave her some clothes for her to wear and she was thankful for the help. Now all she needed was to have her friends back and bring the person that killed Lisa to justice.

Eva wasn't sure where she wanted to go at first but she finally decided to do Hawaii. Her dirty blonde hair was cut into a pixie cut and she dyed it black. Since she cut her hair she kept her skin tone the same and prayed no one found out who she was. She talked a hotel manager into letting her stay in a room as long as she cleans the hotel, but he could only let her stay for a month until his boss got back. Hopefully, she was reunited with her girls before then. She already missed them.

Sasha went to Japan and it pained her to change her Raven black hair but she was at least comfortable with her new hair color. Purple. She didn't want to do a boring color and she got some tattoos so that wouldn't be an issue. She still hadn't found a place to stay except for a closed hotel but it was covered with police because of a recent murder and she could only risk sneaking in so many times.

None of the girls knew where the others went. That was part of the plan. In the case that something were to happen to one the others wouldn't be caught. If something went wrong or if one of the girls thought they needed to meet then they would comment on an article about their escape with the phrase "Lemon is the least guilty. Let her live in peace." It wasn't likely anyone else would say that and when the girls saw that they knew to go to Italy to the warehouse they went to after they escaped.

Eve was able to steal a computer from a customer that had come into the store and set their bag down to look at some dresses they had just gotten in. She quickly put it in the back under her bed she was sleeping on and when she came back the customer was gone. Eve needed the laptop to start her investigation into Lisa's death. The first thing she did was hack into the Italian Police Department's database. She found the file on Lisa's death and was surprised that they had only just found her two days ago.

It had been two weeks since Eve and the other three left Italy. Since the body had only been recovered a few days ago they didn't have a lot of information or evidence, but the photos they did have were downloaded onto the computer Eve had and she copied the theories into a document on her computer. She started the progress of hacking into cameras near the warehouse and gasped at what she saw.

At one point you could see Lisa standing by the windowsill. She turned and smiled at someone that couldn't be seen. As Lisa began to speak she fell to the ground when someone plunged a knife into her. Eve gasped. She knew that hair from anywhere.

While Eve investigated Lisa's death, Hannah was in Australia looking into who could've sold them out. That was the only explanation for how the police knew where to look. What Hannah couldn't figure out was who knew about their plan and that they were even the secret heels. Hannah used a computer at a library to start looking into people from back home and anyone they interacted with in Italy. It was a long list and she thought she wouldn't be done for days. Until, she came across some emails on Eve's cousin account. He clearly had something to do with it and they horrified her, but was even worse was who those emails were to.

    Hannah didn't know what to do so she panicked. She went back to the abandoned house where her stuff was at and muttered a curse when she saw police there. How the hell did they find her and were the other girls in trouble to. Hannah didn't even bother to go by more clothes. She would get more when she got to her destination. Instead, Hannah went straight to the airport. "One way ticket to New York City please?"

    Sasha hadn't been doing much except for drinking till she forgot about the secret heels and what happened to Lisa, but mostly to forget that she didn't have a mom anymore. She had started hanging around a guy, Mamoru, he spent a lot of time at the subway station she stayed at and sometimes slept at. He lived on the other side of the city and took the subway to school and back home and he hung out with friends there sometimes. He took a special interest in Sasha and to her he was simply a distraction from the real world. Nonetheless, she enjoyed being in his presence.

    Eva trained to be tougher and faster than she had been before. She couldn't help but blame herself for Lisa's death. Lisa hadn't wanted to be apart of the secret heels. It's why she was the getaway car and not involved in the heists. It wasn't fair that someone so kind and innocent suffered the date that she did. Eva spent day after day in a room that was old and abandoned in a gym near the hotel she was staying in. She couldn't sleep because when she did she had nightmares about Lisa's body. In her nightmare, Lisa is begging Eva to save her and Eva keeps running trying to find her voice but by time she finds her she's already dead and the killer is gone. Eva could hardly live with herself because she was inches away when her friend needed her.
Being away from each other wasn't easy for any of the girls, but it was harder on some. When Sasha thought about the other girls she took another sip and Eve hacked into more databases. Hannah resorted to blaming others and going home. While Eva didn't think about anything but Lisa. 24 hours a day and seven days a week she was training and working till the day that she was ready to confront her best friend's killer. None of them knew where it went wrong and none of them wanted to admit what caused them to go bad.
