Kirstin's POV
"Kirstin I'm home!" my dad called up to my room as I worked on a new song. "Can you please come down?" I sighed and put down my guitar. I ran down the stairs only to be met by my dad.
"What is it?" I asked politely. My dad folded his arms and leaned against the wall.
"Well I've been offered a new job in LA," he started, "Winston High School of Music has requested for me to be their new principal as their old one recently retired." My nodded my head.
"I'm so sorry you have to leave," I said hugging him, "please visit mom and I as much as possible," he chuckled.
"Oh Kirstin you're hilarious," I looked at him confused and he sighed. "Kit kat, the whole family is moving to LA." I swear I felt my heart stop for a moment.
"What?" I yelled. My dad put his hand up gesturing for me not to yell.
"Kirstin this has been your dream your entire life. You've always talked about going to a music school and I'm offering and forcing you to attend this very prestigious school." I sighed. My dad did make one damn good point. I nodded my head.
"Fine. But if I have to wear or even touch a uniform for that matter, I'm out." My dad chuckled.
"Don't worry it's a no-uniform school," I nodded my head and ran back up the stairs. I eagerly opened my computer and went to FaceTime. I went to my friend, Genevieve's, contact and pressed call. It rang before she picked up.
"What up loser?" She said smirking. I shook my head. "What? Oh I'm sorry. Good evening Ms Maldonado. How are you love?" I snorted and shook my head again.
"Gen, I have important news to tell you, but now that I think about it you might want to come over." Genevieve sighed.
"Fine, be over in a moment." She closed the call. Five seconds later there was a knock on the front door.
"I got it!" I yelled. I opened the door and motioned for Genevieve to come in. She immediately went up to my room and I followed. I closed my door behind me.
"Okay I'm scared," she mumbled. I chuckled.
"Gen," I started sitting down.
"Are you lesbian? Bi? Because if so I'm so proud of you," she said patting my leg. I giggled and shook my head.
"No but thank you for the reassurance in case that ever happens."
"No problem. Now what's up?"
"Well my dad got a new job," I started.
"So? That's amazing!"
"Gen, his new job is in Los Angeles," I said sadly. Genevieve's famous smirk left her mouth and a pout replaced it.
"What?" She questioned softly, "Kirst, I've known you my whole life... But now you're just, going?" I nodded as tears streamed down my face. We both just sat there crying our eyes out.
"God I bet we look like idiots," Genevieve laughed causing me to laugh.
"We always look like idiots Gen," she nodded then sighed.
"Kirst, you've got to tell Matt." Oh yeah. I bet you're like, "whaaat? You never mentioned this Matt kid," yeah so basically he's my boyfriend. Boom I explained. Anyways...
"I know Gen," I sighed. I then got up. "Would you care to join me as I go to Matt's house?" I asked. She nodded. We skipped to Matt's house as we normally do and paused when we got to the driveway.
"Ok I'll stay here, you go talk to him." She said with a smile. I nodded and walked slowly up to the door. I knocked lightly and stood there, my feet shifting back and forth from nervousness. Soon the door opened to reveal Matt.
"Kirstin? I wasn't expecting you here," he said confused. I nodded my head.
"I know but I need to tell you something," he motioned for me to come inside. I took off my shoes and followed him to the living room. I chose a spot close to him and put my hand on his knee. "My got a new job. It's in Los Angeles. I'm not sure when we're leaving but I know it's soon," I gulped waiting for an answer. Matt sat there shocked. He sighed and brushed away any fallen tears from my face.
"I'm sorry to hear that," he started, "I think we should try a long distance relationship. We are very close Kirstin and I don't want to lose this relationship with you." I agreed. He cupped my cheeks and kissed me.
"I love you," I said softly. He smiled widely at me.
"And I love you too," I returned the smile and got up.
"Well I should get going now. I have to start packing otherwise my dad is going to kill me," Matt nodded his head.
"Okay," Matt sighed as I put my shoes on. Before I could open the door he quickly pecked my lips.
"I know we can make this work Matt," I said before finally shutting the door behind me. I walked down the driveway to Genevieve.
"How did it go?" She asked with a light smile. I smiled back.
"Just fine actually," she nodded and we walked back to our houses in silence.
"I'll come back tomorrow to help you pack," Genevieve suggested.
"Sounds great! See you then," she nodded and we both shut our doors. I stepped out of my shoes and headed to the kitchen, there my mom was chopping vegetables.
"Hi Kirstin, where did you go?" she asked.
"Just to Matt's to tell him I'm moving," she nodded sadly.
"I think it is a great opportunity for your father and for you," she stated. "This school is only for the most talented kids in the country. Every single Fine Art you can think of is at that school," I smiled and nodded.
"Sounds exciting and all," I started, " I just really don't want to leave the life I already started."10 comments for next chap
