Kirstin's POV
I was very much regretting saying yes to working on the duet with Mitch, but knowing me and my stupid brain with good grades, I had to say yes. I sighed as the last bell of the day rung through my classroom. Everyone quickly ran out the classroom, leaving me to slowly grab my stuff and walk out of the room and into the busy hallways. I stayed close to the walls of the hallway and watched as people rushed out of school. I'm going to take my time because I have to avoid spending any time with Mitch. Soon I found myself 10 feet away from the front entrance, and that's where I saw Mitch. He stood there lazily, playing on his phone, completely ignoring the people shoving their ways out of the campus. I walked close to him so I was standing beside him before I spoke.
"Hi, I'm ready to go" I said awkwardly. Mitch gave me a small smile before opening the door for me as we walked to the pick-up area. I mumbled a thank you as I walked out. There stood the familiar limo. I got in first followed by Mitch. I sat so I was facing Clara.
"Ah Mitch I see you've brought your friend back, so nice to see you again Kirstin," she said kindly. I smiled at her.
"It's very nice to see you too," Mitch smiled lightly at our exchange but I could tell he was trying to hide it. He knew that our relationship was very fragile, but I knew that it wasn't so fragile to the point Mitch couldn't feel comfortable smiling in my presence. The rest of the limo ride was silent. I could tell Mitch felt anxious, I kind of felt bad for him. I sighed and took out my phone. One text from Jeremy.JMLewis: Hey! Do you want to hang out 2nite?
Kweenkirst12: Can't. I have to work on my duet with Mitch
JMLewis: you should try to fix your guys relationship. I think he feels really bad about what happened.
Kweenkirst12: he told you?
JMLewis: of course!
Kweenkirst12: ugh fine. Since you think it's a good idea I'll try.I put my phone back in my pocket and turned to Mitch.
"Once we get into the house, can we talk?" His eyes lit up a bit but he kept calm.
"Yeah, of course," I smiled lightly before turning to the window.
~After car ride~
As we get out of the limo, I say goodbye to Clara. She smiles and waves back before driving away. I grab Mitch's hand and guide him into the house. I then shut the door.
"Is there anyone else home?" I ask. He shakes his head.
"Nope, my parents are probably with my sister again," he sounded a little sad as he said that but I shook it off. I took off my shoes and went into the main seating area. Mitch followed and sat next to me.
"I know you're mad at me," he started, "God was I ever a fucking idiot. You just have to realize that I didn't mean those laughs. The popular group people are the only friends I have here. I've pushed any other people out," he sighed and looked down in shame. I sighed.
"I get that and all, but Mitch you knew by the fact I was crying, that it wasn't just about the picture. I went through hell during my Grade 7 years and I just got over it. I thought you were better than that. I thought we were at least good friends," I shook my head not wanting to make eye contact with him. His stare was practically burning into me.
"Kirstin I'm honestly sorry. I've just been used to losing people. The kids I hang out with, treat me with respect and stay by my side. I just-I just can't lose them," I put my face in my hands.
"Mitch you don't have to laugh your ass off just so you can stay with your friends. I would've loved a "Kirstin are you okay?" Even when everyone was laughing. I don't care what your fucking status is at this school, grow up and learn to treat people with respect," my voice raised more and more as every word escaped my mouth. Mitch sat there silently.
"I'm sorry," was all he said before he went and hugged me. Yes hugged me, cause that's what friends do. I just sat there. I didn't hug back, I just let the tears stream down my face. He looked at me and cupped my face, wiping all the tears away.
"I'm sorry too," was all I said before I hugged him again. Yes hugged him. I was just glad to have our relationship fixed for the most part.
"Can we work on our duet now?" He asked as we pulled away. I giggled and wiped my tears away. We then got up and went into the dance studio. I plugged in my phone and took out Standing By. We then began the dance. I could tell from the beginning of the dance that we had definitely not lost our chemistry. It went perfectly. Just as planned. Every movement was perfect. Feet were pointed, transitions were smooth, solos were perfected. It was a masterpiece. When we finished, Mitch and I looked at each other. I immediately ran towards him and hugged him. He was obviously shocked but he hugged back.
"That was amazing!" I squealed, "Ms Marsden will love it!" Mitch smiled at me widely.
"I sure hope she loves it. God wouldn't it be amazing if she called it perfect!" We both sighed. Oh how that would be fantastic. As we were taking a water break, an unfamiliar man walked into the room.
"Oh hi Ryan! This is Kirstin," he said gesturing to me. Ryan waved happily.
"Nice to meet you! I'm Mitch's BFF and chef. Mitch I came to tell you that Catt is here," Mitch and my eyes both widened. Fuck.
"Uh thanks Ryan bye!" He said abruptly. He looked at me, "you have to hide in my parents room. Catt hates it in there," I nodded and grabbed my things. As I sneakily made my way up the stairs, I took a glance of Catt. She was too busy scrolling stuff on her phone to notice me frantically scurrying up the stairs. I ran into Mitch's parents room and locked the door. Thank goodness for locks. Soon I heard muffled voices and knew that Mitch had greeted Catt.Mitch's POV
"Hey babe," I said nervously, "what are you doing here?" She looked at me confused.
"I texted you like 20 minutes ago I was coming over to study for the music theory exam," I raised an eyebrow at her before looking at my phone seeing various texts from her.
"I'm sorry I can't study rn, I'm super busy working on... My huge project Mr Osbourne gave me. Can we do it tomorrow?" Catt looked at me annoyed before scoffing.
"Fine, but only because I love you," I smiled and pecked her lips, "I'll see you tomorrow morning!"
"Yup bye!" I then closed the door and took a breath of relief.
"Kirstin! She's gone!" I yelled. Kirstin appeared at my parents doorway and peeped out before completely stepping out of their room.
"Good." Kirstin then pranced down the stairs and stood next to me.
"Well what do you want to do now?" I asked. Kirstin shrugged, "I have Mario Kart 8," I suggested.
"Oh hell yeah!" She screamed. I chuckled and led her up to my room. I sat down at the edge of my bed after I grabbed two controllers.
"I dibs Yoshi!" She yelled. I rolled my eyes.
"Screw that I'm going with Ludwig because I think he's badass," Kirstin broke out laughing.
"Ludwig seriously? Wow you're pathetic," she said. I hit her arm playfully causing her to laugh more. As we begin our first round of Mario Kart, I heard Catt's voice again.
"By the way Mitch, can I have my hoodie back?" She asked from downstairs. My eyes widened and Kirstin made a run for my closet. I grabbed Catt's hoodie and threw it down at her.
"Bye again!" I yelled as cheerfully as possible. Kirstin came out of the closet, giggling like an idiot.
"Mitch I personally think next time I should just let Catt see me! It doesn't matter to me," I nodded.
"Fine, even if it does get me in trouble," Kirstin smiled and kissed my cheek. I knew it was just a friendly gesture so I let it pass. Even if I couldn't let that blush go after Kirstin finally left my house that night.
Let's just say I was happy we were friends again.
