Kirstin's POV
I stared bluntly outside as the moving truck came. Genevieve stood next to me on my left and Matt stood on my right. He grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers. I know that long distance relationships only have a 13% chance of working... I googled it; but I know Matt and I's relationship will be in the 13% because we love each other very much.
"Kirstin you there?" My mom snapped in my face. I jumped out of my thoughts and turned to my friends. I hugged Genevieve tightly. I then turned to Matt and looked at him for a second.
"I'm going to miss you so much," he whispered. I couldn't speak. All of my words couldn't come out. I just nodded.
"I still can't believe this is happening," I gulped. Matt engulfed my in a hug. I smiled and hugged him tightly, something I wouldn't be doing for awhile. I waved to them as the moving truck slowly pulled away from my home, and my old life.
"Honey," my mom started, "we're going to be at the airport soon," I guess I hadn't realized just how tired I was when my eyes slowly drifted open. I yawned lightly and gazed out the window. We made our way to the front entrance and stepped out of the truck. Here we go, I thought as we entered the airport, my backpack slumped onto my shoulders. After clearing customs, my mom stepped aside and pulled me with her.
"Sweetie I know this is rough for you, but honestly I believe you are really going to enjoy this new school. It's a great opportunity for you to get recognized," I smiled. My mom knows that that is another one of my many childhood wishes. That had been the only wish I had managed to keep stored in my mind all of these years.
"Flight 155 to Los Angeles is now boarding," the intercom cracked. I sighed, grabbed my backpack, and piled into a sloppy single file line behind my mom. My chest seemed to tighten more as we got closer to the airplane. I hesitantly stepped into the aircraft. I walked slowly until I reached my seat, then I placed myself down and looked out the window. Goodbye Arlington, goodbye Matt, goodbye Genevieve, goodbye old life. And then that was it. I was out of Arlington, flying high above the town I once called home, but, I knew already, that it was time to move on. For the duration of the flight, I spent most of my time listening to music. I was in a very pensive mood and I had no intentions of making any interactions with anyone. Finally the seat belt sign turned on again as we got closer to LA. I gulped as I saw the huge city. So many lights, so much people. It was making my thoughts go crazy, and I didn't like it. A girl like me doesn't belong here. I should just make a run for it and book a flight for myself. I shook my head in dismay as I exited the flight. My mom wrapped her arm around my shoulder and squeezed it.
"Calm down sweetheart," she said softly, "Los Angeles is a huge place but don't worry, soon you're going to love it," I smiled and nodded my head lightly.
"I sure hope you're right," I mumbled to myself. Since we didn't have to go to baggage claim, my mom decided to get a cab. Soon enough we were able to get one. My mom told the driver the street and house number and then we were off. I stared out the window, intrigued by the different sites. Very tall palm trees soared above the streets. I watched as the taxi entered a fancy neighbourhood, a neighbourhood I would least expect to live in. Soon we pulled up to a very modern home. My mom got out slowly and motioned for me to follow her.
"Why such a big house mom?" I asked curiously as we entered the house.
"This is school owned. They put in the email, "we want the best for the best," I found that statement quite corny and unoriginal," my mom chuckled and I couldn't help but join in. I then turned my full attention to the house. It was gorgeous, way more beautiful than any other house my family has owned. With and indoor and outdoor pool, huge kitchen, games room; it was fully decked out. For an only child like me, this was the dream. I ran up stairs to find a white, tall, wide, hallway. I searched all the rooms until I found one that suited me, it was a simple room, at least for now. It had two reading nooks, and a loft, I put my backpack down and climbed the loft ladder. I examined the area. It wasn't tiny and cluster phobic like other lofts I'd seen before. It was perfect; and I loved it. I then saw a note taped to the door that I had missed before. I climbed back down and ripped it off the wooden surface. I read it out loud to myself.Good afternoon Maldonado family. Winston High School of Fine Arts (WHSFA) would like to welcome you to Los Angeles! We hope you enjoy the house we have provided you with and thank Mr Maldonado for agreeing to this opportunity.
Sincerely,
WHSFA.They failed to mention that not everyone in the Maldonado household was happy with the move; but hey, I do like a little change so I guess I'll take this opportunity.
"Honey can you please come down?" My father called from downstairs. I sighed and walked down the stairs.
"Yes dad," I said leaning against the counter.
"Do you like the place? Very beautiful isn't it? It's a perfect environment for little get-togethers with friends."
"I guess so. I think I should actually make friends first though."
"Yeah I guess, here is your card for school entry," my dad handed my a little card, "don't lose it otherwise you won't have access onto the campus," I nodded and took it. He paused and stared at me. "Are you nervous?" he asked. I looked at him.
"Of course I am," I stated sassily, "you know how I get in new environments," he sighed.
"Yes I do," I folded my arms.
"When does school start again?" I said looking around for boxes with my name on it.
"September 6th," I sighed. That's a long ways away. I nodded my head and stacked a few boxes in my hands.
"I'm going to get unpacked," I said with a small smile before carefully ascending the stairs. I put the boxes down and did a full look-around of the room. Okay this room is definitely perfect. I thought before beginning to place things down in their now designated areas.TEN VOTES FOR NEXT CHAPPY
