Lindsey dropped his keys for the third time, trying to unlock the front door with one hand whilst keeping hold of Demi’s hand with the other. He groaned, bending down to pick them up. “Here; let me.” Demi said, taking the keys from Lindsey’s hand and unlocking the door quickly with her free hand. Demi pushed the door open and grinned up at Lindsey. He sighed. “How’re you able to do that while still holding my hand?” He asked. “If you couldn’t open it with one hand, you could have let go of my hand.” Demi replied. Lindsey pouted. “But I didn’t want to let go of your hand.” Demi laughed and followed Lindsey into his house. He finally let go of her hand, turning to lock the door. “There’s a bag of clothes upstairs in my room for you.” Lindsey said, hanging his keys on their hook nearby. “How…?” “Agnes dropped them off before.” “Ah…Well, I’m gonna go get into my PJs.” Lindsey chuckled. “I’ll get some drinks and join you upstairs in 5. I have a surprise for you!” “I look forward to it!” Demi replied, running upstairs.
Demi was finishing taking her makeup off in the en suite when she heard Lindsey come into the bedroom. She threw the makeup wipes into the bin and went back into the bedroom. “Hi.” Lindsey greeted her. He walked out onto the balcony with two empty wine glasses. Demi frowned and followed him out. She gasped when she found Lindsey’s surprise; waiting for her was a small, metal patio table, holding a birthday cake with 21 lit candles and two bottles of extra expensive wine. “Aw Linds.” Demi said, trying to keep the tears back. “Happy Birthday, Dem.” Lindsey said, handing her a now full glass of wine. They clinked their glasses and both took a sip. “Blow your candles out then.” Lindsey said, gesturing towards the cake. Demi put her wine glass down on the table and leant over the cake. “What are you waiting for?” Lindsey asked, coming to stand beside her. “I’m trying to think of what to wish for.” Demi replied. She closed her eyes and blew out the candles. “What did you wish for then?” Lindsey asked. Demi tutted, waggling her finger at him and taking a sip of her wine. “If I tell you, it won’t come true.” She replied, walking back into Lindsey’s bedroom. Lindsey sighed; she was far too good at playing hard to get. He downed the rest of his wine and followed her into the bedroom. He found her looking through her bag of clothes. “Why in the hell has Agnes pack so much lingerie…” She muttered to herself. Lindsey sat on the bed, watching her. “Nice bra.” Lindsey commented, smirking at the lacy red bra that Demi was holding up. Demi stuck her tongue out, shoving the bra back into the back and dropping the back on the floor. “I notice you still have your clothes on. What happened to you putting your PJs on?” Demi sighed. “Agnes didn’t pack any. Which is stupid because she knows I’m not – ” Demi stopped and picked her bag up again and put it out of the way. “You’re not what?” Lindsey asked. “Nothing.” “Demi? You can tell me.” Demi sighed and sat beside Lindsey on the bed. “I, erm… I’ve never done it.” Demi said. Lindsey raised an eyebrow. “You’ve never had sex?” Lindsey asked, genuinely surprised. Demi seemed like such a girl of the world. To be 21 and never had had sex? It just didn’t fit with Demi’s raunchy, seductive personality. Demi shook her head. “I’ve just never felt ready. My last boyfriend dumped me because I wouldn’t sleep with him.” “Is that why you won’t…? Lindsey trailed off; he knew he didn’t need to finish the sentence to know that this was the reason Demi was resisting sleeping with him. Lindsey sighed, knowing that he needed to put his desires and feelings aside. It was a big birthday for Demi and she didn’t deserve to be upset; she deserved to be loved. Lindsey took Demi’s hands in his. “Demi, you must know that I wouldn’t never rush you into anything you don’t want to do.” Demi nodded. “But I do want you to know that I do want to be with you that way – when you’re ready – and that I think I… I… I love you.” Lindsey looked away from Demi, who looked up at him. “You… You love me?” She asked. “Erm… Yea.” Lindsey said. Demi turned his head to face her. “I think I love you too.” She whispered, kissing his deeply. Lindsey kissed her back, pushing her to lie back on the bed. After a few seconds, Demi pulled away. “I'll be right back.” Lindsey nodded, letting Demi up. She grabbed her bag and went into Lindsey’s walk in wardrobe, closing the doors behind her. Lindsey sighed. “She loves me. She loves me.” Lindsey whispered to himself. He grinned, pulled his jeans off and turned the TV on.
Demi looked at herself in the mirror; for once in her life, she felt beautiful. She stood in her best lingerie set, one that had never been worn. She thought the whole situation through; she had never felt ready to give herself to any man, despite the large number of men who had thrown themselves at her in New York. But with Lindsey, it was different. Despite their bad start, their bad first impression, it seemed they had really fallen for each other. And she really did love him. And it seemed like he really did love her. Demi took a deep breath and turned to leave the wardrobe. She stopped when she spied one of Lindsey’s old kimonos hanging nearby. Running her fingers over the expensive silk, the light bulb in her head went off and she grinned to herself.
Lindsey was pouring another glass of wine when he heard the wardrobe doors open again. “I thought I’d scared you off – Woah.” Lindsey’s eyes widened when he saw Demi. She was wearing one of his kimonos from the Rumours tour. It hit her in the middle of her thigh, like a short dress. She had tied it tightly around her little waist, but it was slightly baggy around her chest. Lindsey had no idea what to say, so kept quiet as Demi walked slowly over to him. She sat on the bed in front of him. “I trust you.” She said quietly. She took his hands and put them on her waist. “Untie me.” She said. “Are you sure?” Lindsey asked. Demi nodded. Lindsey untied the kimono and opened it, revealing Demi’s lingerie. “Show me you love me.” Demi said, kissing Lindsey passionately.
