Lindsey, Ken and Richard giggled together as they sat in their usual booth at the bar. They secretly had a few joints as well as the several beers they had drunk since arriving at the bar. “I wonder where Demi is. She said she’d only be an hour or so.” Lindsey said, looking over at the door. Richard laughed. “She’s blown you off, man. She’s come to her senses and realized she’s actually in love with me.” Lindsey pushed Richard over. Ken looked over at the door and his eyes widened. “Y’know, I don’t think she did, Rich.” He said. “What makes you say that?” Richard asked. “I think she was just getting all sexy for our man Lindsey here.” Ken replied, taking a drink of his beer. “How’d you know that?” Lindsey asked. Ken pointed at the door; Lindsey and Richard looked over and their eyes widened. Demi stood at the door looking around the bar for them. She’d gotten changed out of her prim dress and sensible heels and had changed into a pair of ripped grey shorts and a long sleeved crop top, paired with less than sensible brown leather peep toe platforms. She had a fedora on her head and tons of feathers in her hair, making her look ever inch the bohemian goddess. She finally spotted the guys and rushed over to them. “Hey guys!” Demi said, standing by their table. “Hey Demi!” Richard greeted her enthusiastically. Ken smiled up at Demi, keeping in his thoughts his beautiful girlfriend. “Hey Dem. You look nice.” Demi smiled at Ken. “Thanks! I didn’t think that my ‘work’ outfit was appropriate for a bar so I got the spare clothes out of office and got changed when the oldies left.” Demi finally looked at Lindsey, her eyes lighting up. “Hey.” She greeted him quietly. “Hey” Lindsey replied in the same hushed tone. He moved over a little and Demi sat beside him. “Want a drink?” Lindsey asked her. She nodded. “Sure.” “What’d you want?” Ken asked, getting up to go to the bar. “Whatever you guys are having is fine.” Demi replied. Ken raised an eyebrow. “Don’t you want something a little more lady-like?” Richard asked, letting his sexist side get the better of him. Demi stared at him emotionless. “Are you scared I’ll drink you under the table, Dashut?” Demi asked him, setting an indirect challenge between them. Richard smiled. “Get me another too, Ken.”
The men surround the booth as Demi and Richard went at it, chugging their 8th beers. They slammed their glass down and looked at each other. “Give up?” Richard asked, a little more than tipsy. Demi shook her head groggily. “Never.” They began their 9th beer. As he reached the halfway mark of the glass, Richard suddenly slammed his glass down. All eyes went to Demi, who finished her 9th and 10th beers. The gathering crowd cheered and a rather impressed Lindsey held Demi’s hand up. “Winner! Demi Lovato!” He yelled as the men continued to cheer. “Well… Done.” Richard managed to say, holding out his hand. Demi shook it. “You’re not bad yourself, Dick.” Demi replied. The bartender made his way through the crowd. “Okay, folks. It’s closing time!” The crowd dispersed and Demi, Lindsey, Ken and Richard made their way out onto the street. Demi sighed as a long black car pulled up. “My ride’s here. Y’all want a lift?” The three guys jumped at the chance and the four of them climbed into the town car. “James, can you take my friends home?” Demi asked the driver. “Yes Miss Lovato.” He replied, his answer followed by drunken addresses being shouted at him.
When they had made sure Ken got into his house, Demi gave James the signal to drive away. She looked back at Lindsey, who was looking at her. “You were amazing tonight. I don’t know anyone who can drink more than Richard.” Demi grinned at him. “My only talent; being able to drink more than a guy.” Lindsey raised an eyebrow. “Surely it’s not your only talent.” He said, looking suggestively at Demi’s bare legs. Catching his drift, Demi asked, “Do you wanna come back to my place?” Lindsey nodded. “But, just so we’re clear, we’re not having sex.” Lindsey’s hopes of getting some disappeared. “What’re we gonna do then?” He asked as Demi finished telling James to go straight back to her penthouse. “You can stay over. But I want to get to know you better before we do that.” Lindsey thought about it; he certainly knew he wanted to get to know Demi better. He hoped she’d be around long enough for him to know every little thing about her. And, although he’d really hoped to do more with her, the thought of just sleeping beside her was actually pretty nice. Lindsey smiled at her waiting face. “Okay. Sleeping over at yours sounds nice.” “No sex?” Demi asked. “No sex.” Lindsey confirmed. Demi smiled. She rested her head on his shoulder for the rest of the journey.
