Lindsey held Carol close to him, his hand placed possessively on her waist. As they chatted with J.C., they could hear the excited whispers get louder around them. Just as Lindsey was about to ask what everyone was excited about, J.C. gave him his answer. “Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Look at that fine piece of ass we call ‘boss’.” Lindsey and Carol looked to where J.C. was pointing. Lindsey’s eyes widened and he felt Carol stiffen in his grip. Demi was descending the staircase with Stevie, looking like a curvy, brunette version of the party hostess herself. Demi wore a long deep purple dress, which hit the floor and gathered at her feet. The dress’ neckline went right down, stopping in the middle of her stomach. Her lengthy dark locks - which looked red under the lights in Stevie's home - were styled, curled gracefully and postioned strategically on either side of her chest, drawing attention to the large amount of exposed skin. Even Lindsey couldn’t contain himself; his face gave it away that he was obviously extremely attracted to Demi. And, as he stared at Demi, Carol noticed; her heart ached.

Demi and Stevie giggled, making their way to the kitchen, currently the only quiet room in Stevie’s house. “I told you! You should have seen Lindsey’s face!” Demi grinned, making a drink for herself. “I’m gonna see what’s happening.” Stevie said, making a beeline for the kitchen door. “Okay. I’m gonna go outside for some fresh air.” Demi replied. She walked out into Stevie’s backyard. She breathed in the warm Californian air. A light breeze blew over her, making her thankful that Stevie’s dress had long sleeves; the air might have been warm, but the breeze sure wasn’t. She closed her eyes, letting the background music fill her head. She didn’t notice Lindsey join her outside. “Beautiful night, isn’t it?” Demi snapped out of her trance and tried to look anywhere but at Lindsey. “Mmm. It is.” She took another sip of her drink. Lindsey was suddenly in front of her, looking down at her. Despite her huge platforms, Lindsey still towered over her. “You look beautiful too.” He said quietly. Demi watched him as he spoke; he was nervous. She could tell he’d never been in a situation like this before, whatever this situation was. What happened next was a blur. Demi removed the cup from her lips… And Lindsey's lips took its place. Circumstances that had started off with Demi being very confused turned into her literally throwing her cup onto the ground, locking her arms around Lindsey’s neck and kissing him back. Before she realized what was going on, it was too late and the damage had been done. “Lindsey?” They broke away from each other and looked towards the house. Carol stood in the light of the doorway, tears just visibly falling down her cheeks. Demi covered her mouth, disgusted in herself. “Carol we… It wasn’t what it looked like.” Lindsey stammered. “I’m sorry. I have to go… I’m sorry.” Demi said, quickly walking back into Stevie’s house. “What’s wrong? Demi?” Stevie called after Demi. Demi ran out of the house and collapsed onto the driveway. As she sobbed hard, arms wrapped around her. “You’re new to this whole other woman thing, aren’t you?” Stevie said, rocking Demi gently as she wept. This act of kindness would cement their friendship. Theirs was a friendship that, in the future, Demi would come to cherish dearly.
