Lindsey ran his fingers through Demi’s hair as they watched their third movie in bed. It was creeping into the early hours of the morning and they still weren’t tired, despite the previous two movies and frequently bouts of lovemaking. Demi lay across Lindsey’s legs, smiling at the comforting feel of his fingers going through her hair. She looked up at him; his eyes were fixed on the TV screen in front of them. They were watching one of Demi’s favourite movies, Sabrina, which Lindsey had never seen before. Demi watched him intently; his brow was furrowed in concentration. She couldn’t tell what he thought of the movie, and she could usually tell straight away what he thought of anything. “What cha thinkin’ ‘bout, Linds?” Demi asked, shifting her weight so she could look at him properly. Lindsey continued to look at the screen, but responded to her question all the same. “I’m thinking about the fact that Bogie’s character is clearly in love with Audrey Hepburn’s character. But he won’t admit it, because he thinks he’s too old for her. That annoys me.” “Why?” Demi asked. Lindsey finally looked down at her, his bright blue eyes taking her breath away as they always did. “Because I had the same thought when we first got serious.” Demi frowned. “What do you mean? There isn’t that many years between us, Linds. It’s only 9 years.” “That’s still a big gap, Dem. It’s almost a decade. I still worry that you’ll take a fancy to someone younger than me.” Demi sat up and held Lindsey’s face in her hands. “Lindsey, age doesn’t matter to me. It’s the person you are that matters. I fell in love with you, so what else matters?” Lindsey smiled. “I love you too, Demi. I love you and I would never, ever hurt you.” Demi smiled back and put her arms around him. Lindsey tugged at the bed sheets Demi had wrapped around her body, making her giggle. “Again?” She asked, sitting back. Lindsey shrugged. “I’m upset; I need you to cheer me up.” He tugged at the sheets hard and grinned as they fell away. The two lovers kissed passionately as Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart shared a hug, confirming their feelings for each other at last.
