EDITED

I lick the blood off of my lips, shoving the now dead body away from me.

It falls to the sidewalk with a sickening thud.

"Are you just a heartless monster now, Evelyn?" That stupid all-knowing voice says from behind me.
His tone is condescending.

It bothers me.

I turn to glance at the Salvatore brother who was to be my babysitter tonight.

After my killing spree in New York, Damon needed a break from me.
I turned my emotions off mid-trip and went berserk. Only killing sexual predators though, or the occasional "good guy" at a bar.

I had no thoughts at all, just an overwhelming desire to never feel anything ever again.

"Just let me live my stupid life, Stef," I groan in annoyance.

Stefan raises an eyebrow at me,

"You call this a life?"

"I'm riding the human population of scumbags who torment other women, and or hurt them, I'm doing the world a favor," I throw my arms out in exaggeration.

"Regardless, you're not doing anything to cover up your trail of bodies," Stefan points to the man's corpse behind me.

I shrug,

"Not my city, not my problem."

I walk past him towards my car, which is a few blocks away. He catches up to me with ease, falling into step beside me.

"Why do you even care, Stefan? You don't know me, remember? Your brain is still fried from being locked in a safe all summer," I point out, and then feign shock and bat my eyelashes comically,

"Don't tell me you've gained affections for me, Steffy."

The nickname makes him pull a face of disgust and he shakes his head.

"I may not remember you or Damon, Evelyn. But I care about you both. There's something inside of me that makes me want to be here for you. I know you slept with Damon, and that you two tried out being together. I know you love me and my brother and Kol," he lists it all out on the table.

"Not anymore. I don't love anything or anyone anymore," I say gravely,

"Just leave me alone."

Stefan continues to follow me to my car, and get in the passenger seat before I can click the locks down on him.

I take a deep, frustrated breath of air.

My eyes narrow as I glare at the vampire next to me,

"The next time I tell you to leave it won't be with my words, got it?"

Stefan smirks at me,

"You're stuck with me, Eve. Let's go home."

I groan again and start the car, pulling away from the sidewalk in a squeal of rubber.

After about an hour of driving on the freeway, Stefan realizes we aren't headed back to Mystic Falls.
