Chapter 13(Niall's pov): She escaped my embrace. I didn't want to let go of her. She smells like roses. She isso delicate and perfect.
"I didn't know you could sing or dance like that, you where fantastic!" She exclaimed. "Not as fantastic as you." I start. I want to ask about the curly haired boy she was talking to, but I didn't know how.
"Hey, remember when we were dancing, we got a little touchy?" She asks. "Yeah?" Was this it?
Was she going to tell me she liked me?
Or was she going to say she didn't like being that close to me?
"I hope it wasn't too awkward for you. I wouldn't want to ruin our friendship." She says, smiling hopefully.
Friendship? We were friends? Just friends? I could practically see the barrier between us. "No, It wasn't awkward. Not at all." I try keeping a straight face. "One more thing, at the end, when we finished, you..." She says, the end of her sentence nonexistent. I remember, when I almost kissed her. Almost. Good thing I didn't. Then we wouldn't even be friends. "When we almost kissed?" I ask slowly. She nods, not looking at me. "Yeah," she says after a second.
What seemed like decades passed before she breaks the silence. "Are we still going apartment hunting?" She looks me strait in the eye, a shadow of a smile on her perfect lips.
The lips I almost kissed.
"Yeah, lets go." I say, giving her the most genuine smile I can muster. "Great." She says, she gives me another hug, she buries her head in my chest.
I rest my chin on her head. I smell roses again. If I close my eyes, I could pretend we were together.
I could pretend, everything was perfect.
I could pretend she was mine.
She unraveled herself from my arms, picked up her untouched purse and threw away her now cold coffee. "Have you found anywhere yet?" I ask, my hands in my pocket. "Yeah I found two places that have one room, for me, and Ive found one place with two rooms, for you and your friend Louis." I had forgotten about Louis. I had to call him to ask when I had to pick him up and where.
"So," I start as we walk toward some tall buildings I hope are apartments. "Where did you learn to dance like that?" I ask, my hands behind my back, looking around, taking in the sights. She looked down, smile gone. "Uh, I don't know." She said slowly, looking away at nothing in particular. "You're a real bad liar." She didn't say anything. I didn't want to press. She could tell me if she wanted to.
She was playing with her bracelet again. "Where did you get that bracelet?" I ask. She didn't look up. "You keep playing with it." She laughs a little and looks up. "You ask the hard questions." She says with a sad smile. I hated that smile. She looked so upset, it broke my heart.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." She looks up, her hair in front of her eyes. She brushes it back while she smiles at me. "Thanks, Niall." She looked grateful. I made her happy, but I could tell she was still sad. I had to change the subject. "So you like music?" She nods, with a small smile. "Yeah, its my everything." She admits. "Me too." I say.
And thats how it goes. We talk, we laugh, we learn. We go around the city looking for apartments. After we go to three apartments that didn't meet our standards we find Bella's one room one bathroom apartment in the middle of the city with a view of a fountain. "This is perfect." She says, walking around the empty living room.
Bella talks to the real estate agent thats in charge of this place. They shake hands and we leave. "Are you getting the place?" I ask, absentmindedly playing with the dog tag around my neck. "Yeah, I just need to get the rest of my money from where I put it in my hotel room and make the first payment. Then I can move in whenever." She says smiling. I will never get tired of that smile. It makes me want to smile back. "Thats great." Whatever makes her smile is great.
