Chapter 24(Zayn's pov): I don't eat.

I don't sleep.

I don't move.

I stay in me and Kayla's room.

Ive already looked through her side of the closet to see how much clothes she took to see how long she might be gone.

She took a lot of her clothes.

She only took one of my shirts. Its my green lantern shirt, my favorite superhero. We used to have superhero marathons where we watched the green lantern movie and all the Iron man movies.

Iron man was her favorite.

She didn't bring her Tony Stark T shirt. I held it close. It didn't smell like her.

I was disappointed.

I crawl back in bed. I lay in her side. Her pillow smells like her.

Fresh cut roses.

Her sweat shirt is still on the bed. I remember I got her it at the fair. It was our three year anniversary. I take out my phone.

0 messages.

I call her. I haven't called her since the day after she left. Her message said it had nothing to do with me.

It said she was sorry.

"Hey its Isabella," Kayla's voice says. I smile slightly, even if I'm anything but happy. She always said that if she changed her name it would be Isabella. "I can't pick up the phone right now, please leave a message at the,"

Beep.

I sigh, not knowing what to say. "Isabella." I say plainly. I pause for a second. "I..." I can't say anything. I feel a tear running down my cheek. I wipe it away. "You left your favorite sweatshirt." I say quickly and hang up. I can't hold it back anymore.

I cry.

I remember the night we got into a fight. It had started out perfect. We woke up in each others arms. I remember thinking, "I wish I could wake up to seeing Kayla every morning for the rest of my life." Thats when I realized something:

I could.

I could be with Kayla forever.

I decided right then that I would go buy a ring and ask her that very night. I was excited. I ran out of the house telling Kayla I was visiting a friend so that I could buy a ring and think of a way to ask her in a special way.

I spent an hour in the jewelry store. Her engagement ring has to be perfect. It can't be too big or she won't wear it because its too fancy. It can't be too small because she deserves more. I finally find the perfect ring for her. Its silver with a shining medium sized blue gem.

It was perfect.

A worker in the store came up to me. He looked like he was in his fifties. "You know, blue diamonds are extremely rare. Very lovely." He says simply, examining the ring I was looking at.

I ended up getting the ring. It came in a black box that was shaped in a heart.

Perfect.

I spend the day with her on the beach. I ask Cristina to make us a picnic that we will "accidentally" stumble across.

Everything is perfect.

Its sunset. Im holding her in my arms, giving her kisses on her cheeks as she giggles. I reach behind me to get the box.

I can't find it.

The sun has set. I didn't propose. I hate myself. The moment's gone. I continue looking. I had it right there. "What are you doing?" Kayla asks. "Nothing." I sigh, giving up. I'll ask her when I find it.

Everything has to be perfect when I ask her. "We better get going." I say, absentmindedly. I can't believe I messed up. Now Im just mad. We don't talk on the way home. We get home. I go into the kitchen. I need to think of a way to propose. I decide to get a box of chocolate and replace two of the chocolates with the ring and a note that says "Will you marry me?" I go to the store and get the box of chocolates, a bouquet of roses, her favorite flower, and wine.

I drive home happy. I imagine her face when she opens the box of chocolates and sees the ring. I wonder if she's going to say yes. Of course she is.

We love each other.

I start putting the ring and note into the box in our driveway. I look up to see Kayla walking out of the house to water the garden we just planted. I remember we didn't because we were at the beach all day.

She doesn't see the car in the driveway. I wait for her to go back inside so that she wouldn't see everything I got her. Our neighbor from across the street, Jason goes running past, topless. Her sees Kayla and jogs up our front yard to talk to her. They start talking and he even makes her laugh.

I forget all about the chocolate box, the wine and flowers and everything.

I throw them aside to the passenger seat while opening the car door. "Hey babe." I say, walking up to her and smoothly putting my arm around her waist. I lock my lips on her and force her into a passionate, needy kiss. She barely responds.

She escapes my grasp, "Sorry, Jason, got to go." She says to him, barely smiling. She turns and quickly walks away into the house, avoiding my gaze. I turn to glare at Jason before I go after Kayla. She's about to go to our room when I find her. She turns around and sees me coming after her. She stops. She crosses her arms and braces for impact.

"What was that?" I say loudly, trying to keep my voice calm. "We were just talking." She rolls her eyes and runs her hand through her raven black hair. "Don't you roll your eyes at me." I demand. She steps closer lazily. "Look, we had an amazing day today and I really don't want to fight, can this just wait until tomorrow?" She asks, looking up at me pleadingly.

"You want to wait? Fine." I say, putting my hands up, taking a step backwards. "Go wait with Jason." I finish plainly. She sighs angrily. "Why do you always do this Zayn? Why can't I talk to any guy without you getting pissed?" She yells.

"Because, Kayla, you're mine, and I don't like to share." I yell back. I step forward and slap her across the cheek, hearing a loud smack as my hand hits her skin. She puts her head down, hair cascading over her face. She holds her cheek with one hand.

"Im not something to be shared, Zayn." She says quietly. Without another word, she goes back into our room and locks the door behind her.
