The heart of the joker

Chapter 8

we got into the car again and Alfred drove us somewhere but i didnt know where, soon we arrived and it was a hospital, my heart started beating a little more, Bruce gently but quickly pulled me out the car and into the building, he ran to the front desk,

"Ashlee Davidson please?!"Bruce asked as calm as he could,

the lady at the desk nodded,

"room 159, floor 4"

"thank you"

Bruce ran down the hall and to the elevator and we got in, he pressed the button for floor 4, when the door opened he ran out again, when we got to the door i realised that Bruce was holding my hand, i blushed slightly, 'wait blushed?! the hell?!?!', i let go of his hand and pushed the door open, gasping i ran over to the side of the bed,

Ash was laying in the bed asleep, her face was bruised and cut, she had a broken arm too, i sat in the chair beside her and held her hand, her eyes snapped open and she pulled her arm away,

"what are you do-!"her eyes widened and mine watered, "Ryder...?"she gasped,

"...your alive...?!"i whimpered,

she nodded both of us were now crying, i heard the door shut and i knew that Bruce had left she opened her arms out for me and i instantly hugged her,

"im so sorry i left you!!!"i sobbed,

"its okay"

"i thought you were dead! im so sorry"

"it fine, and stop apologizing"she chuckled,

i wiped my eyes and i sat down holding her hand still,

"the bullet went through my side, so it wasnt enough to kill me, and wheres the joker?"

i looked down and only then did i notice some bruises on my wrist where he held me, i pulled up my sleeve to cover them, i looked up at Ash and her eyes widened,

"HE FUCKING PUT HIS HANDS ON YOU!!!"she screamed,

"what?!"

"your neck has hand or finger bruises!"

i stood up and ran to the mirror and there was a mark around my neck where the joker had pinned me to the wall, and the cut where i had kneed him in the groin,

"explain!"

i turned to see Ash being held with a knife to her neck and a hand around her mouth, i looked up and saw the joker,

"well hello, dollface"he grinned,

"let her go!"

he chuckled, then took his hand off her mouth then held her face firmly, then he put the blade in her mouth,

"no dont!"i begged and stepped forward, "not her please, do it to me instead please"

"dont move or i slice her mouth"he growled, i froze,

"please..."i begged,

he smirked then pulled the knife away but hit her in the head knocking her out,

"N-!"

he pinned me to the floor and silenced me,

"sshhhh, doll"

he pulled his hand away and stroked my face while his other hand pinned my arms above my head,

"what do you want?"

"come back with me"

"why? so you can beat me?!"i hissed,

"i wouldnt hurt you!"he growled,

"too late!"

"what do you mean?"

"look at my neck"i snarled,

he moved my hair out the way and he stroked where the marks were, then over the cut, his eyes softened and he couldnt meet my gaze,

"im so sorry doll, i didnt mean to"

"well you did"i croaked,

he lent down to kiss me but i looked away,

"dont Joker, just dont"i said quietly,

he growled and then hit me in the head, i turned my head to the side and my vision went blurry but i saw Batman burst into the room and the joker looked down at me and kissed my forehead,

"ill be back, doll"

the joker stood up and Batman punched him and the joker dropped his knife, i grabbed it and clutched it as best as i could, i got up on my knees as best as i could and i stabbed the joker in the back of the leg, 

a low growl came out his throat and something inside me stirred and i felt all fuzzy, suddenly the wind was knocked out of me and i bent over on my knees, gasping for air, i saw the joker look at me and his eyes widened, 

then batman punched him and knocked him out, i finally got my air back and i managed to catch the joker in time, i held him and looked at him, i moved a piece of hair out of his face that was there, 'why did i catch him right after i stabbed him?!'

"why did you catch him?"batman asked,

"I-I dont k-know...?"i looked away from batman and at the floor, "...im so confused..."i whispered,
