The heart of the joker

Chapter 12

i stand in the crowd, my heart beating fast with both anxiety and excitement. people are walking around me, completely oblivious to whats about to happen, i look at my watch, 9:54, in 1 minute Jack should burst through the door with his men, i hear the lift ding and i look up and see Jack shove a hostage through the door and walk out with his men following, he shoots in the air, i check my watch, 9:55 exactly, i smirk, look up and put my sacred act on to blend in with everyone else,

"We made it! Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. We are tonight's entertainment! I only have one question: Where is Harvey Dent?"Jack announces,

he paces around the room, pointing his shotgun at random guests at Bruce Wayne's party,

"Do you know where Harvey is? Do you know who he is? Do you know where I can find Harvey? I need to talk to him about something. Just something little, huh? No... You know, I'll settle for his loved ones."he questions,

an old man then steps forward slightly and bravely says, "We're not intimidated by thugs!"

The Joker snaps his head round to look at the elderly man, i grip my glass in worry,

"You know, you remind me of my father." he pauses and grabs him at knife point, "I hated my father!"

"Okay, stop!"says a woman,

all attention turns to a woman, its Rachael Dawes, Jack smirks and walks over to her,

"Well hello, beautiful! You must be Harvey's squeeze, hm? And you are beautiful." jealousy stirs in my stomach and i wanted Jack to stab her right then and there, "Oh, you look nervous. Is it the scars? Do you wanna know how I got 'em?"

Jack roughly grabs her chin as she continuously tries to look away, i smirk slightly and my stomach bubbled with excitement,

"Come here, look at me. See, I had a wife - beautiful, like you - who tells me, I worry too much, who tells me I ought to smile more, who gambles and gets in deep with the sharks. Hey."

Rachael squirms, and he forces her to keep looking at him,

"One day they carve her face. We have no money for surgeries. She can't take it. I just want to see her smile again, hmm? I just want her to know that I don't care about the scars. So.." Rachel tries again to look away, he grabs her face and forces her to look at him once more, "I stick a razor in my mouth and do this¦ to myself."

Jack says while pointing towards the scars that were covered in red lipstick, "and you know what? She can't stand the sight of me! She leaves. Now, I see the funny side. Now, I'm always smiling."the joker says as he raises one arm in the air and grins widely,

Rachael knees him close to his groin but just misses, he lets go of her and chuckles,

"A little fight in you. I like that."he says chuckling,

"Then you're gonna love me."Batman says as he appears out of nowhere and attacks Jack,

2 of the jokers men come up to me and firmly grab my arm,

"time to go, Joker dosent want you here during the fight."the tall gruff henchman said,

i nod, as i go to walk away i see Rachael come closer as she is knocked out of the way,

"two seconds!"i say and quickly run up behind her pulling my hood over my face,

she spins around and i punch her straight in the face and i hear a sickening crack, i swiftly turn and hide in the crowd, i sneak to the door and turn back, i quickly catch the Jokers eye and nods slightly then turns it into a duck to disguise it, i smile,
