Chapter 22

Swallowing I look at Bruce's face, it was hopeful, but I can't live this life, 

"I..I..don't.."there were gasps in the room, "I'm so sorry Bruce..I can't do this"

I let go of his hand and run out the church. I kept going down the street, I wasn't far from the center. Tears stung my eyes but I ignore them. Slowly I stop and stand in an alley, it was getting dark in the sky. My dress had pockets so I pull my phone out, there were a few texts, 

Ash: Where are you?! why did you do that!

Bruce: Ryder?? why didn't you tell me..I'm sorry please call me

I ignore them and look at the time, 4:30pm, it will get dark soon. Then I hear it, the slow taps f water, I sigh and lean against the wall. Slowly one by one the tears fall,

"what am I supposed to do from here?!"

I close my eyes then I hear footsteps, 

"what's a girl like you doing out here dressed like that, hm?"the person hums, 

I groan and open my eyes, looking in the direction of the voice my breath gets caught in my throat, 

"Jack.."

He doesn't realise at first but then he sees it and drops his knife, 

"Ryder?!"

"Jack!"

I move quickly and wrap my arms around his neck, burying my face in his neck. His arms wrap tightly around my body, his face nuzzling mine. He lets go but cups my face, tears pool in my eyes again, 

"what are you doing here? and your hair! wow.."

I giggle a little, "I fancied a change, and I ran from the alter.."

Jack's mouth dropped open, 

"why?! why did you do that?!"He says loudly, 

"I couldn't do it..."

"but you were supposed to live a normal life..be normal..have a husband..possibly kids..you would have everything..why wo-mph!"

I grabbed his face and kissed him hard, he kissed back and pulled me closer, 

"because I remember everything, you, me..us. I can't marry a man I don't love, someone I hate.."

"y-you remember?"

"yes..we met in a bank robbery"I chuckle, "you picked me for some reason and saved me"

Jack smiled and kissed me again, 

"I love you so much"He gasps, 

"I love you too"

the rain then becomes heavier and I rip the hair piece out, throwing it on the floor, 

"why didn't you tell me when I woke up the truth? you might of saved all of this! stupid idiot!"I say, 

"..I thought you deserved a better life..without me ruining it.."

"Jack you never ruined my life..only showed me that my so call best friend was a backstabber"

He smiles and then pulls away from me, bowing he put his hand out to me, 

"well, may I have this dance, my lady?"

"you may"I laugh putting my hand in his, 

he joins out hand on once side and holds them out, his other hand holding my waist, my other hand then holding his shoulder. He swings us around gently, dancing to the rain. Then he moves and dips me, my hand moves up and round his neck. He pulls me up and we are face to face. I laugh as he kisses me, still moving. Suddenly theres footsteps, 

"Joker! let go of her"

we break partly and look at Bruce and Ash stood next to each other, 

"Ryder honey come here.."Bruce cooes, 

"no"I state firmly,

"Ryder you forgot your medicine your not aware of who your with, come here and we can go home"

I look at Joker and wink, quickly I push Jack away. Slowly I walk over to Ash, when I get to her she holds out her hand, I lift my hand but instead of taking hers I slap her hard, around the face. She falls to the floor through the force, 

"How dare you."I spit, "you've been lying this whole time, forcing me away from Jack, feeding me bullshit pills then you drug me when I go to you to talk to you about my memories. Best friend my ass"

"I only wanted to help you..give you a better chance at life..marry someone decent"

"if you really wanted to help me you would of listened to me, supported me even if you didn't agree with it.I don't want to see your face ever again."

She doesn't get up, just lies their sobbing, 

"and you Bruce. you sweet talk me even though you know what I've gone through, knowing I hated you then slap me when I voice my own opinions, force yourself onto me countless times even though I tell you I don't want to. Shame on you." I rip the ring off my ringer and push it hard into his chest, "and you can take this back. I will never marry you."

Then I notice a couple reporters, 

"and for the record I am in love with the Joker, have been for a while, I will stay by his side no matter what and he will have to kill me to make me leave him. My name is Ryder Samson."

And with that I turn and walk toward Jack who is smirking, I roughly pull his shirt towards me and press our lips together. When we pull away I notice there are more reporters gathering, I grab Jack's hand and we run away from them. We easily get to his car and drive off, 

"you're amazing doll"

"I learn from the best"

He grins again and I rest my hand on his thigh. I couldn't be happier right now than with him.
