"Rain, what is this all about?"

Jordyn had pulled me aside and wanted to know about Megan. Who could blame her? I don't think any of us had been expecting her to show up. But I'm the only one who'd been betrayed by her, who hated her with a passion.

I chose my words carefully. Luckily, Megan had called dibs on the first round of tubing, so she and Lincoln were out on the lake.

"A long time ago, when I still went to church, Megan was my friend. Hard to believe, I know. But long story short, she made fun of me and we drifted apart because of that. I had no idea she was here."

"Really? She's on my team," said Cami, who was standing with Jordyn and I. Emily and Blake were also with us.

"She is?" How hadn't I noticed this earlier? If I had known Megan was gonna be here, I never would've come to camp.

Finally, I shook my head and decided that I had to let it go. "I don't want to let this ruin what was supposed to be a good day. Come on, guys, let's get out on the lake!"

After about an hour, it was almost time to get off for the second shift. New people would be getting on the boat, and we would have to leave. So far, I'd went tubing with Emily and water skiing with Blake.

"Okay, we have time for one more ride," Ed told us. "Who wants to go?"

Jordyn, Cami, Blake, and Megan were all sitting on the bench inside the boat, relaxing their legs. "Um, I'll go," Lincoln spoke up.

"Okay. Anyone wanna go with?"

Emily looked at me and raised her eyebrows as if to say, 'Do you want to go, or should I?'

"I'll go," I said.

"Okay, pick a tube," Ed instructed.

Lincoln and I climbed in our separate tubes and drifted out onto the lake a little further. "You ready for this?" Lincoln called.

"You know it!"

And just like that, the boat sped up and water splashed in my face. We skidded along, cruising through the lake quickly. It was so fun; I kept screaming and laughing. I'm pretty sure I swallowed a gallon of water, but oh well.

When we were finished, Lincoln and I climbed back in the boat and sat on the bench to dry off. "That was fun," he commented.

"Yeah." And it was. I wished we could do it again, but alas, it was time for the second shift.

"Anyone wanna go to the pool?" Jordyn asked.

"Me," said Emily and Cami.

I was about to say 'sure' when Blake cut me off and asked, "Hey, Rain? Do you mind if we talk for a second?"

I looked from him to the girls and back again. "Um, sure. I'll catch up with you guys later, okay?"

They nodded and Lincoln joined them on the walk to the pool. I didn't see where Megan went, but I didn't really care. I was so done with that girl.

"So, what's up?" I asked Blake.

We walked over to a wooden swing outside the snack shack and sat down.

"Well, first of all, I wanted to congratulate you on getting saved. And say I'm really sorry about what happened back there, with Megan. I had no idea your mom..."

"Was gay? Yeah, neither did anyone else. Besides Lincoln."

"Oh?"

"Yeah, I told him yesterday. When I got saved. He's the one that walked me through it."

"Oh, I see. Well that's cool. Look, I hope you don't think I'm being a jerk for saying this, but...I got your note. And no offense, but...I just want to be friends."

"Wait, what?" I didn't say anything to him in my Encouragement that would imply having a crush on him...

"Yeah. You put an Encouragement in my bag that said you liked me. I just wanted to let you down easy."

"I did what now?"

"You...put a note in my bag?"

"Yeah, no, I heard that part. But, Blake...it wasn't me!"

"Really? Are you sure? Because it was signed with your name."

"I'm positive! Look, I wrote you a note but it definitely didn't say that. I don't like you!"

His brows knit together in confusion and hurt.

"No, no, no, that's not what I meant! Of course I like you! Just...not like that."

"Oh. Okay. Well, glad we cleared that up. See you later, Rain." With that, he got up and headed in the opposite direction of the pool.

I couldn't believe this. Who would do such a thing?!
