Before I could think too much about who to talk to, it was time for games. I met up with the other campers to see who was on my team.

Brett read off a list of names for red, orange (Jordyn was on that one), and yellow before getting to green. "Sarah and James will be your leaders," he began. Some kids cheered; Sarah and James must be camp favorites. Lucky me! "This team will be Blake, Daniel, Rain, Kelsey, Peter, and Amber."

I walked over to Sarah and James, and waited nervously for my other teammates. I wondered what they would be like. Luckily, I already knew Blake, so at least there was one person who was a familiar face. Oh, besides Sarah. I hoped it wouldn't be weird being on her team and in her small group.

"I'm glad to have you on my team!" she said, hugging me.

I hesitated before hugging her back. She seemed genuine, but I wasn't really the hugging type.

Amber, a girl with long brown hair and the prettiest hazel eyes I'd ever seen, came and joined the group. She looked away shyly, and I immediately felt a connection. We were both kinda new at this, and maybe this was her first year, too.

Soon, the others-Kelsey, Blake, Peter, and Daniel-joined us. "Welcome to the green team, everybody!" said James, the leader. "What do we wanna call ourselves this year?"

All I could think of was vegetables. Hopefully someone else would have a good idea, because no way were we being the Green Peas or something!

"How bout Green Lanterns?" Peter suggested. "I mean, he's a superhero, so that would suggest we're powerful, and the lantern can mean we're lights for Christ." I immediately lumped him into the nerd category. He probably loved comic books and things like that.

"That's a good idea, Peter! Anyone else?" Sarah asked.

"Green Arrows?" Daniel suggested, reminding me of a TV show I liked called Arrow.

"That's a good idea too. All in favor of Green Lanterns, say 'I.'"

Blake, Peter, Kelsey, and Amber said it.

"Okay, all in favor of the Green Arrows?"

Daniel and I said "I."

"That's four against two. Green Lanterns it is!" Sarah declared.

Okay, I could deal with that. I liked both suggestions, anyway. They were much better than what I'd come up with in my head.

"The first game of the week is gonna be water kickball," James told us. "So hopefully you've got your swimsuits on and are ready to kick some butt!"

"Hey, it's not all about winning," Sarah reminded him.

"I know...but it sure is fun to win!"

The boys got a competitive gleam in their eyes; meanwhile, I was freaking out. I sucked at kickball. And now there was water involved?! I did not sign up for this.
