Taylor's POV
.
.
.
I walked into school on Monday morning, read to go get the day. For some reason, I'd just been in a good mood all weekend, despite my irritating little brother. As I was making my way to my locker, I distinctly saw Zoe's wild dirty blonde curls, but I decided it couldn't be her because the girl was wearing a light pink sweater and light wash jeans. Now, Zoe can be girly, but not so bland. I kept walking.
As I was getting my history book out of my locker, I didn't even realize anyone had come up behind me, so when I spun around only to run smack into Dean, I was really shocked and embarrassed.
"Ow!" Dean rubbed his head where my forehead had smacked against him I felt myself blush and I immediately looked down.
"I am so so sorry. I-I didn't even know you were behind me. It was like-" he cut me off.
"Hey, it's okay. You just... surprised me a little bit," Dean smiled with all his teeth at me. Why did he have to be so cute and polite?
"Oh. Well, I'm sorry. Uh, did you need anything else? I mean, you kinda looked like you purposefully came over here to my locker so...." my voice got tinier and tinier as I trailed off toward the end. I was really not good at this kind of thing.
"Yeah, actually," he ran his hand through his hair and his smile went away. "I was wondering if-"
"DEAN!" A high pitched, nasal voice rang thorough the hall. Dean and I both turned around to see Yevonne Brookes from the basketball team sauntering towards us. She walked right over too us but backed up really close to Dean and faced me like he was. Dean looked uncomfortable. "Hey, baby. Watcha doin'?" she twiddled a lock of her straight brown hair between her thumb and index finger as she looked up into Dean's eyes. Dean reeled.
"Yevonne! What are you doing?" She turned to face him since he backed away from her. Dean really looked confused and... disgusted? I didn't know what was going on, so I decided to do what I do best and observe.
"What do you mean?" Yevonne assumed that innocent expression just a split second too late. I could tell she was faking whatever she was trying to do.
"I mean, I told you we were done. What's with the 'baby' and the interrupting of my conversation?" He was calm, yet demanding. It was so hot.
"Oh, Dean. I knew you weren't being serious," she dragged 'knew' and 'serious' out in a really agitating way. But, from the looks of Dean, I could tell he was definitely serious whenever he broke up with her. I've always prided myself on being a good people reader, not that this situation was hard to read or anything. "I knew it would just be like all the other times we fight where we go to bed angry, and then the next day it's like it didn't even happen!" Then she smiled in a way I guess she thought was cute.
"No, Yevonne. This time, I mean it. I'm ready to move on," a tear rolled down Yevonne's cheek. It was almost like she had to force it out.
"What?" She squeaked. Dean, I guess, thought she was actually crying and went in to hug her. Yevonne milked it and laid her head on Dean's shoulder. I saw Dean tense.
"Look, Yevonne," Dean sighed before flipping his bangs out of his eyes since he didn't have any hands at the moment. "I don't want to hurt you, but I think we haven't been working for a long time now. I really do want to move on this time," he released her. She was still wiping away her crocodile tears.
"Wait," she looked from Dean to me and back again. "Why are you over here in the first place? Your locker is on the other side of the school!" She didn't even give Dean a chance to respond when she turned to me and spoke again. "You. I don't know who you think you are, but stay away from Dean. Even if he doesn't want to date me, he's too good for sluts like you. Obviously he was hooking up with you while the two of us were dating. What other reason would he have for breaking up with me?" She flipped her hair and a whiff of her intoxicating perfume wafted up my nostrils. Yevonne was standing really close to me and she was taller cause she had on these gaudy cheetah print heels and she was yelling at me and I just got so overwhelmed that I just ran before I started crying in fron of Dean.
"That's right, bitch! And stay out of my life!" Yevonne yelled after me. Now the tears started coming. What was I even crying about? I don't care what Yevonne thinks!
"Wait!" Oh. But I care what he thinks. Dean paused for a long time but then he called "Taylor!" But I had already ran around the corner.

Zoe's POV
.
.
.
Madison's father called my mother on the phone yesterday. He told her I haven't been following the dress code that was given to the whole student body all last week (but it wasn't, it was just given to me despite Dr. Martin's promises) so my mom made me wear the dullest outfit ever to school. I'm not even wearing any jewelry at all and I'm barely wearing makeup. Just foundation, mascara and blush. My face feels naked. My outfit is so plain! It's a solid pink sweater and light wash jeans. With no rips or bleach spots or patches or patterns or anything. And I hate light wash.
Ian Crenshaw was lingering near the school entrance as always this morning, but I didn't catch any slack from him because I honestly don't think he recognized me. Taylor didn't recognize me either cause earlier this morning I saw her walk right by me. Just now, I saw her run past me practically sobbing. Someone down the other hallway was calling her name. I didn't really recognize the voice. I knew I was missing something, because I basically had no contact with anyone all weekend cause mine was so terrible and sulky.
Then again, it was starting to seem like everyone had just as terrible of a weekend as I did.
