(Erik's POV)
-3 days later-
I brought a cup of tea to my angel, the third one of the day. Her throat was almost as good as new, but I wanted to make sure.
She drank the tea as I watched her and held her in my arms. We stayed like that in silence for a little, it was nice and peaceful, but after a while, I decided to ask her something. "Would you like to join me for dinner tonight?" I asked nervously.
After making dinner, I took a bath and changed into my finest suit. I took the small box in my shaky hand and slipped it in my inner pocket. Tonight I would propose to her, and this time it would be her choice whether to marry me or not, I would not force her into anything. Was it too sudden? Would she want to wait? I had thought about it more than once, but I did not see the point in waiting; we lived together, and I could not possibly ever love someone else other than her and if she loved me, she would stay. I did not mind giving her as much time as she needed, I just wanted her to be comfortable and happy.
I walked out of my room and waited patiently for her in the dining room, where I had set the table with the best silverware I owned, candles, and a bottle of wine in the center of the table.
She finally came out of the room and I kissed her hand before I pulled her chair out for her and she gladly took her seat. I brought our food to the table and we started eating. As we ate our meal, we only had little conversation because of how nervous I was, but I tried to hide it as much as I could.
When we finished dessert, she spoke, "Thank you so much for this wonderful evening."
That was when I knew I had to do it in that moment.
"It is not over yet," I said with a smirk on my face, but before she had the chance to question my statement, I got down on one knee in front of her and pulled out the box from where I had kept it all night, opening it, and revealing the ring. Her hands flew to her mouth and she looked at me teary-eyed.
"I hope I am doing this the right way this time," I chuckled. "I did not know how much I would need you until the last few months, they were torture without you. You are the reason I never gave up and hoped one day I would find you again, I wake up thankful for that everyday. I love you more than anything else in this world. You are my light, my music, and my muse, but most importantly, my angel. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and die knowing that you loved me as much as I love you. I want us to be one in God's eyes forever. So I ask you, Christine Daaé, will you make me the happiest man on Earth and do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
When I finished speaking, she had let her tears fall freely, which I quickly proceeded to wipe away and she frantically nodded her head. She launched herself towards me and wrapped her arms around my neck as I wrapped mine int he same way around her tiny waist.
"Yes Erik, I will marry you," she said.
I slipped the ring into her finger and I was surprised but happy to see the perfect fit it had. I then stood up and held her waist as I closed the space between us. She placed her hands on the back of my neck as I pulled her even closer until finally our lips met. We kissed each other passionately, showing each other all the love we felt. We wanted each other, we loved each other, we cared for each other, and now I knew we both wanted to spend our lives with each other.
