(Christine's POV)
When I got upstairs, Erik had an odd look on his face. He looked rather confused and a little dizzy.
"Erik are you alright?" I asked, worried, and took his hand.
He nodded and looked at me. "You are so beautiful," he said and leaned towards me so he could kiss me, but I was a bit far from his reach and he almost fell off the bed.
"Darling, be careful." I told him stroking his cheek. "Are you sure you are alright?"
He nodded his head, "Come here." He cupped my face and pulled it towards him. "I want to tell you a secret," he said and I nodded. "Are you an angel?" he whispered and smiled genuinely. "I drank medicine and then the medicine told me," he said.
I knew it was going to be a long night.
"No darling, I'm your wife," I told him as I held his hand in mine.
His eyes widened, "Really?!" As he asked me that, he looked more shocked than I had ever seen him in my life. I giggled a little bit and nodded before I placed a kiss on his nose.
He smiled but then started sniffing around. "What is that?" he asked.
"What is what, darling?"
He shook his head. "That smell, what is it?" He proceeded to clumsily unbutton his shirt and sniff his own chest. "Why do I smell like cheese, angel?"
I giggled and ran my fingers through his hair. "You do not smell like cheese, dear. You just took a bath."
He smiled widely. "Another one!" he said excitedly and I giggled yet again. Then his eyes got wide and he kept smiling as he said, "Another one...but in cheese."
I giggled and kissed his cheek, "No, you should go to sleep, dear."
"But I'm hungry," he whined.
Well, he hadn't eaten since lunchtime, "What would you like to eat?"
He smiled widely and his eyes lit up like a five-year-old's. "Cheese," he stated, "Cheese and wine."
I tried not to laugh. "No, no wine for you, sweetie," I said.
He looked down at his hands and pouted. "Just a little bit, please," he begged.
I shook my head, "Darling, it's late. Maybe some other time."
He looked at me and pouted angrily. "Erik wants wine, Erik wants wine," he whined.
"Darling, come here," I said taking his spot and pulling his head to my lap. "Honey we don't talk in third person, okay? That says you think of yourself as a thing and you are not a thing, you are a person. You are a very strong, smart, and beautiful man," I told him kissing his temple afterwards.
He nodded his head slightly and sat up. He seemed to understand what I told him because he looked straight into my eyes and spoke, "Will you give me some wine please, angel?"
I smiled and nodded, "A little bit will not hurt."
I went downstairs and fetched an empty wine bottle. Then, I filled it with water and a little bit of grape juice. I cut some pieces of cheese and put them on a plate before I grabbed a glass for the 'wine' and headed upstairs.
"Love, I brought you your dinner," I said as I walked inside.
He smiled at me and clapped his hands together. "Thank you, angel," he said and kissed my cheek. Then he blushed and giggled.
I helped him drink the water since I didn't want him drinking it all at once, and then he took the cheese from the plate and ate it. He looked amused but then it seemed that his amusement changed to sadness. "Angel," he whispered. I looked at him and he continued, "Why aren't my legs working?"
My heart shattered, I knew he was broken.
I thought for a second before I decided to answer his question. "Because a man hurt you," I said. Then I leaned forward and kissed his forehead, "but they will work again, I promise you, but you have to try hard, okay?"
He nodded and lay down. I kissed his forehead and whispered, "Goodnight my angel." Then I hummed to him until he fell asleep.
