Chapter 2
(Erik's POV)

She awoke the day after in my arms and with a smile on her face; two things that I never thought would happen at the same time, but here she was, and this time by her own choice.

"What are we going to do today, angel?" she asked me looking into my eyes.

I kissed her forehead, "We shall do whatever pleases you."

She held me closer to her, but after a moment I stood up and left the room. She seemed taken aback by that sudden action of mine, but her smilereturned to her face when I came back in with a tray of food.

"Don't worry, I'm never going to leave you," I whispered into her ear and kissing her cheek afterwards. Then I motioned for her to start eating, and she did so eagerly. After a few bites she turned to me and asked me if I would join her to eat.

"I already ate, mon ange," I responded with a shake of the head, which she took as her cue to continue eating.

I watched her every movement, even they way she ate was more graceful than anything I had ever seen in my life; and that had to say something considering the fact that I worked for royalty for quite some time, not that those people had any class, but someone would expect at least a little bit of that from them.

When she finished, I picked up the tray and went to the kitchen. As I put the plate on the sink, I felt a pair of arms wrapped around my waist from behind. I smirked, turned around, and swinged her over my shoulder.

She started laughing as she begged for me to put her down, her laugh was the most beautiful sound in the world, even such a small thing as her laugh amazed me like that. I carried her to the living room and finally set her down carefully on the divan.

Then her eyes changed, they showed more confusion and even the tiniest hint of sadness, but I still noticed. I kneeled beside her and took her hand in mine, placing a kiss on it.

"What is wrong, angel? Is there a problem?" I asked.

She shook her head, "I feel very bad asking you this, but you never told me your name," she said to me, looking down at her hand, the one I wasn't holding.

I smiled at her and placed yet another kiss on her hand, "Erik, Erik Destler."

The rest of the day we spent singing and getting to know each other more deeply, and around the time I calculated was night, she asked me to read her a book. She picked one of my favourites and gave it to me. She rested her head on my lap, and I read as I petted her head. Not long later she fell asleep and I carried her to her room. I placed her on the bed and pulled the covers up to her shoulders.

"Goodnight, my angel," with that, I kissed her forehead and left the room, going to bed myself and waiting for it to be the next day so I could see her smile again.
