(Christine's POV)

I was pacing in the waiting room, I had been for hours. The doctor had told us that Erik needed a special surgery, and that it was very risky. Erik was really scared but I calmed him down every second until he was taken into the room.

"It's going to be alright, my love," I whispered.

Just then, a doctor came out and held my hands; my heart stopped, but then he spoke, "The surgery went well, he is resting now and so should you, Mrs. Y. Go home and sleep, you may see him tomorrow."

I sighed and reluctantly let him lead me to the door. I went home and went to bed, hugging Erik's pillow as I did.

I fell asleep due to how exhausted I was and the pregnancy, but the next morning I got up early and went straight to the hospital. I was led to the room but the doctor stopped me from going in, saying that he had to tell me something important.

"Mrs. Y, your husband had some complications last night and he has slipped into a coma. He is currently in a difficult situation and we are not sure if he will make it. I am sorry," the doctor said.

I suddenly felt my knees fail me, and I was helped to a chair and given a glass of water. I let him help me take a small sip, "May I see him?" He nodded.

I was taken to his room and I sat beside him. My heart hurt at the sight of my angel. He looked in pain even though he was sleeping, and almost his entire head was covered in bandages.

"Hi love," I whispered as I took his hand. Then I felt something stir in my stomach and my eyes filled with tears, so I kept talking to him, "Erik, you have to wake up. Please, be strong, my angel! Do it for us, I know you can. Remember that we have a beautiful baby on its way and he-..." I stopped for a second, remembering how he wanted a girl, "...she'll want to see her daddy." I was crying, sobbing into his hand. I kissed it repeatedly, "Stay."

I fell asleep bedside him and woke up in our bed. I figured the doctors had someone take me, so I started sobbing into Erik's pillow for a while before I decided to make my way back to the hospital.

Again, I sat beside him and held his hand in mine. I talked to him for a few minutes and then I got an idea...I would sing for him.

I cleared my throat and sang softly into his ear, but he never stirred or reacted even the slightest bit. I started crying again, "Please, don't leave me. I need you...we need you."

Still, nothing.

Raoul came to the hospital after a while to check on Erik and take me back home, and I reluctantly let him. When we got there, he carried me upstairs and laid me down. "I will bring you some food," he whispered and kissed my hand and left.

He came back upstairs and placed a tray beside me. "Christine, you need to eat," he told me a few times before I finally looked at him. He picked up the fork and convinced me bite after bite that I needed it, and so did the baby.

Months went by and Erik remained in the same condition. I would visit him everyday and from time to time they would allow me to stay for the night. I got up and dressed early in the morning, before Raoul was even up, and ate a small piece of bread that I had left on the kitchen table the night before. I went to the hospital and was escorted to my husband's room.

"Wait here one second," the doctor told me while he went inside.

I started getting nervous, more than usual, as I was left on a chair in front of the only door that was keeping Erik and me apart from each other.

The doctor came back. "You may go in," he said.

I waited for a second to take a deep breath. I rubbed my stomach and reached for the doorknob. As I stepped in, my breath got caught in my throat.
