The moment Sans woke up hunched over you was a flurry of jumbled words and apologizing which you assured him that it was no big deal. His cheekbones were covered in a light greyish tint too, was he blushing?
"Sans, are you blushing?" You couldn't help but let a smile ghost on your lips.
He frowned and denied it. "You're seeing things kid." He snorts before standing up and walking away.
You were left on the couch with an awkward expression on your face, why does he have to act like a butt when things were playing out smoothly? You sighed and turned to the skeledog napping beside you giving him a loving pet from the top of his skull to the back of his spine. "You better not act like a butt too alright Serif?" You babytalked the skeledog causing him to wake up and look right at you, eyes flashing into white then back to grey; it reminded you of Comic's dual coloured ones.
"If you ever become a butt, I'll turn you into bonemeal." You cooed; Serif who didn't understand a word you said just let out a weird cackling noise before rolling onto his back tottering around. "But I can't do that, your too adorable for bonemeal." He chuffs with what you think is an agreement.
"Hey kid, you wouldn't have seen my pack of cigarettes won't you?" Sans asks peering from the bend of the hallway.
"Not really, where'd you last see it?"
"Hell if I know."
You looked at Sans then back at Serif. "Could Serif be one of those dogs who could find things with it's scent?" You asked excitedly.
"Maybe, I dunno. I only trained him to protect, attack and defend." Sans was now walking towards couch.
Serif immediately sprangs up and wags his boney tail as well as letting out a few desperate for attention whines.
"Why? Aren't I enough for you Serif?" You pouted, Serif didn't seem to hear you.
"Don't worry kid, his still warming up to ya." Sans says pulling out an empty box of cigarettes for his jacket's pockets. "Here, let him smell this." He handed it over to you.
You took it and placed it a few inches infront of Serif's nose. "C'mon Serif! I know you can do it!" Serif takes the cigarette box from you and dashes into your room.
"Do you think his leading us there?"
Sans shrugs.
"Let's go check on him." You stood up and speed walked your way there only to find Serif on your bed chewing on the carton.
"I guess we know what he isn't." Sans laughs at your defeated face.
"Oh shut up."
You both settled back into the worn out couch.
"It's okay kid, I'll get more later." He took notice of your baffled expression.
"It's not that.. It's.. nevermind."
"It's nevermind? Sounds ruff."
"Sans I'm serious.""Hi Serious, I'm Sans." He waves at you.
"You're really getting a kick out of these aren't you?" You crossed your arms at him.
"More than you know kid, more than you know. But seriously, what's up?"
"You won't get offended right?"
"Ya sure, I'm a pretty chill guy. Lay it on me."
"Couldn't you have just regenerated your friends when they.. erm.. turned to dust?"
Sans was caught off guard by your question.
"I'm sor-"
"It's alright kid, well it because.." He straightens himself out. "I'll put it in the simplest way possible. Us monsters have Individual magic that is only controlled by us and nobody else."
"What about Serif and Comic?"
"Well you see, when I made those two I used my concentrated magic inorder to conjure up life for them since they're body originally consists of attack bones that I glued together.." He mutters the last part to himself. "But they're not really made out of the same magic, yes Comic was molded by my magic, but Serif is molded by someone else's magic."
"So that explains his grey eyes then? Who's magic is it anyway?"
"Bingo, the magic I used for Serif is more powerful than the one in Comic's." He didn't bother answering your other question.
"Why?"
"Honestly kid, the magic for Serif is highly unstable; not saying that Serif is unstable it's just.. forget it. His unstable. That's why I tried to avoid using it as much, but you're an acception I guess." He shrugs and laughs.
"Why am I an acception?"
"Isn't it obvious kid? I kinda care for you."
"You care about me so much that you gave me an unstable dog?"
"Kid your missing the point here."
