I raced to my car,

My body feeling heavy, it seemed as if my feet were screaming at me to stop and slow down.

I sped to the only place I knew meant a lot to you;

The rooftop of your fathers old, abandoned factory.

My fingers grabbed the steering wheel until my knuckles were white.

I sped through all the red lights until I saw the familiar face of the factory.

I parked my car on a dirt track leading to the factory and ran the rest of the way.

In theory it was slower.

I didn't care.

I ran up the creaky stairs of the factory,

The walls all knocked down giving me a glimpse of old machinery.

The stairs on the verge of falling down.

The ceiling no longer existent,

My feet ached by the time I reached the rooftop.

I stood there on the rooftop,

And looked around.

My stomach dropped,

You were sitting on the edge of the rooftop.

With your back to me,

But your sobs were loud and clear

Your shoulders shook with every sob that escaped from your beautiful lips.

Every time you shook you moved closer to the 40 meter drop, that would inevitably lead you to your death bed.

I fell to my knees,

I should run to you,

I should bring you back from the edge,

I should hold you.

But my body doesn't agree.

It refuses too move.

"P-Phil"

I cried out.

"D-don't"

Your head whipped back.

Revealing your bloodshot eyes.

Your hair was sticking to your forehead

Your lips were chapped.

"O-oh Phil, h- how?"

I looked at you and couldn't process how you fell apart.

Not when you looked so strong.

"D-dan I'm sorry-y" your tears resurfaced.

"N-no Phil"

I slowly crawled to you, ignoring my bleeding knees due to old shards of glass left on the floor.

"Please do n-not say that,"

Tears fell from your eyes.

"I knew you were hurting, I s-shouldn't have left,"

Your voice cracked.

I wrapped my arms around your shaking figure.

"It's my fault too, I should've said something,"

My voice filled with regret.

"No!" You said shrugging your shoulder, freeing yourself from my protective hold.

"I should've realised you were hurting, but I ignored it!"

You took a deep breath.

"I ignored it like a blind idiot, I tried to move on, I tried to leave you behind. All because people though that I was too old too not settle down, h-how could I have been such an idiot!"

I tried to stop you from rambling but you kept going.

"And because of that, I-i don't deserve you" you said standing up.

"Wait Phil, w-what no!"

I grabbed your hand, but you only mouthed sorry and took off running.

Phil, this wasn't how we were supposed to end.
