Xander POV
I sat in microbiology class, hoping I'll be able to get my mind off of the disaster I call my life right now. The professor was nagging on about what we'd be doing today.

"Today's lecture will introduce students to the basic properties of bacteria, archaea, eukaryotic microorganisms and viruses, with an emphasis on bacteria. The diversity within the microbial world will be emphasized, as well as their relevance to the health and diseases of humans." I roll my eyes not even remotely interested in today's talk.

Kill me now!

"Approaches for controlling the growth of microbes in the environment and for preventing the spread of infectious diseases will also be discussed. Now I would like for you all to find a partner and work on page 89 in our work books." I hate group work, I truly do I always feel like I'm the only one doing the work. *eye roll*

I look around the room and see no one I'd be even remotely okay with. Until I feel a tap on my shoulder, I turn my head to be met with a girl I'd never seen in the class.
"Wanna work together?" She asks blandly.

Why the hell not?

"Sure." She sits next to me and puts her book on the table. We work together on what was assigned quietly.
" Alright class that's it for today. I expect pages 112-190 to be read by next class."  I pack my stuff away and walk to the library.

Mom: Hey Sweetie!

I hadn't heard from my parents in a while.

Xander: Hey moms, what's up?

Mom: I wanted to spend some time with you, if you were free?
I do need to do some homework, but I do want to spend sometime with her. Just in case this moment doesn't come back for another couple months.

Xander: Yeah mom, we can hang out! Where do you want to meet up?

Mom: The Mall?
I text back I'll meet you there in 15 mins. Then rushing to my car, on the way there I turned up the radio to put myself in a good mood.
Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles started to play.

Here comes the sun (doo doo doo doo)
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right
Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right
Little darling, the smiles returning to the face.

I rock my head back in forth smiling, I noticed that today was a really nice day. Too nice to be stuck in an old stinky library for 5 hours, studying. I thought it was great I was getting this time to spend with my mother.

I reach the mall and wait to hear back from my mom on where her location and how long she'd be till she got here.

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes.
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes

15 mins later
I text her
Xander: Mom, where are you?

Mom: I am so sorry honey I was called back into work. I won't be able to make our little date.

Of course she can't, I don't know why I thought this would be any different. Any other time she'd say we'd have quality time, something would come up. I roll my eyes and enter the mall on my own.

Mom: Honey? I really am sorry sweetie.
Xander: I know you are ma.

I stop replying to her texts so I can get over the disappointment. I walk through the mall and decide to treat myself to Forever 21.

When I walk in I hear one of the clerks say " Welcome to Forever 21, if you need any help just let me know!"
They didn't sound enthusiastic about it, which wasn't bad but I was expecting a more chipper-ness.

I pick out an outfit and walk to the counter. (Outfit in M\M)
Going to the mall is a lot less fun when you're there by yourself.
I get back into my car and drive home, a lot less happy than when I first got in it.

Walking through the front door Tristan was sitting on the couch watching Law & Order: SVU.

"Hey, babe! How was your day?" Tristan asks

I didn't want to tell him about the whole thing with my mom.
"It was good! I went to the mall and bought a new outfit, after school."

He gets up and walks to me in the back. "Anything in there for me?" He asks wagging his eyebrows suggestively.
I laugh and shake my head "No actually, nasty!"
It wasn't that I was just upset about what my mother did more so I just didn't want to think about it anymore.
"How about your day?" I ask him.
"It's better now you're here." He smiles widely and hugs me tightly.

This is what I needed.
