Chapter 38 - Short Fuse

"Well this is freaky." I commented as I studied my hands. "It's like my mind went time traveling."

"You might have discovered time traveling Flo." Cisco said. He was rolling side to side on my bed.

"Hah. I wish Cisco." I said pulling the blanket causing him to plop down on the floor. I grin as he sat up glaring at me.

"What was that for?!" He whined climbing back on my bed and face planting on the covers.

"Nothing in particular." I answered. "You seem to love my bed very much."

"This is the softest bed I have been able to lay on. Leave me to roll around in peace." Cisco answered rolling until the edge to pluck a magazine from Ori's feet. The latter was sitting on an arm chair writing on a tablet.

"What's that for?" I asked Ori. She glance up and smiled. It was so unusual to she her smile so easily.

"It's a detailed record of the Enhanced list." Ori answered. "Once you feel much better we'll need your help."

"I can help now." I said perking up at the prospect of doing some brain exercise. "Gimme."

"Nope. You can't stress that delicate brain of yours." Ori answered.

"It will atrophy if I don't use it. Please?" I plead widening my eyes for effect but Ori just grinned at me lazily while shaking her head. I blinked when I remembered how her twin smiled like that at me a few days ago. After that day they never came back, which I found strange.

"How about you read some children books?" Cisco said raising his head. He was hugging a huge pink teddy bear. My room had huge stuff toys scattered in it which I don't remember owning but they were a welcome addition. They were fun. I poked the elephant that was more worn out then the others, it also smelled nice and I liked elephants. I pulled it towards me and placed it on my lap. "You seem to like kiddie stuff."

"Not that know of." I said placing the elephant back and tug the stuff alpaca from Cisco. This one look ridiculous. It was wearing a pirate hat and a sweater with a huge spade on it. "I wonder if they have names?"

"Well they're in you're room you can name them anything you want." Ori answered going back to her tablet. "Start with that one. "

"Spade." I said and felt a painful throb from my brain. I winced and both Ori and Cisco caught it. Ori was instantly beside me. "I'm fine. I'm fine."

"I said stop straining yourself!" Ori reprimanded.

"I was not Ori." I answered with a sigh. I studied the stuff toy, wondering why the name Spade hurts. Ori noticed me wince again.

"Florence." She said gritting her teeth.

"I can't help but be curious!" I said.

"You're hurting!" Ori answered.

"Ori. I have metaphorically lost almost half of my life, it's human nature to be curious." I answered reaching out to grab her hand. I gave it a fond squeeze before letting it go. "That dude Lay was right, later on it will be a fight of my curiosity or my pain."

"Maybe the pain will get lesser as time passes?" Cisco said.

"Maybe.." I said with a shrug, I placed Spade back on the bed and plucked back the elephant. It was smaller then the rest of the horde and really more scruffy. "This seems to be my favorite."

"How so?" Cisco asked.

"It smells like her the most which could mean she hugs it all the time." Ori said.
