So, what are we doing about the house, eh? Thorn asked, shooting the thought absently through the link as he stood in the ruins. He got no response, and frowned, sliding more fully into Sin's head.

He backed out again almost instantly with a deep, frustrated sigh, shoving down the jealousy and irritation he felt. He wouldn't be getting anything out of Sin for awhile, it seemed.

He glanced around, casting his senses out to find Kalen. When he did, he tried to slip into the man's mind. There was a block, but Thorn had broken stronger walls. He rapped on it mentally, and the response was irritated when it came.

What do you want? Kalen asked--but not through Thorn's mental link. The sorcerer had set up a link of his own. Thorn chuckled and withdrew.

Something needs to be done about this mess--and I could use a healer, if there are any around.

A heavy sigh echoed through Thorn's head. Give Andreas time to recover and get his strength back. As for healing... if you want to be fully healed, I'd suggest waiting for him as well. Otherwise, I have a simple spell that would make you walk a little easier until then.

That would be fantastic, thank you. Thorn's tone was ever so slightly sarcastic, but he managed to keep most of it out.

Kalen shrugged into Thorn's mind, and the conversation was over.

Thorn sank down against a marble slab that had apparently once been part of the floor, and closed his eyes. Sleep. Sleep would be wonderful.

But soft footsteps disturbed him, and he cracked open one eye to see the naiad, Caelei, walking toward him. "You might want to drink this," she said, and held out a leaf filled with water.

He took it, and she plopped down next to him carelessly. "Thank you," he said, surprised, then drained the leaf. It wasn't much, but it was something.

Her only response was a soft smile, and Thorn set the leaf in between them, closing his eyes again. Normally, he didn't sleep--elves had no need of rest. But Thorn could still enter a sleep-state, putting his own mind into a coma in order to give his body a reprieve.

He'd be out for hours on end if he did, but it might be worth it.

More footsteps sounded, and Thorn peeled his eyes open again to see Kalen walking over this time. The man stopped in front of Thorn and Caelei, and said something in a language Thorn didn't understand.

His eyes turned violet briefly, and Thorn felt a rush of prickling, foreign energy spread over his body. Gods but he hated the feel of magic.

When it vanished, he did feel marginally better, however.

"You should be able to walk by yourself easily now. Though there will still be a limp. Try to be nice to Andreas if you want to be fully healed."

Thorn scoffed as the man turned on his heel and walked away. Nice to Andreas? Nice to the man was even now far too close to his Sin for Thorn's liking. The thought didn't sit well with him.

"What did he say?"

Thorn glanced at Caelei, realizing for the first time that while he had learned Eerean, Caelei still couldn't understand anything the foreigners said.

"Nothing important," he told her, leaning his head back again.

She made a frustrated sound, bringing a smile to Thorn's face. "That's not what I asked."

"No? What did you ask, then, little nymph?"

"I asked for a translation, not your interpretation."
