I can't tell if this worked out better than what we had planned or if this might have been a bad idea, Andreas said into Sin's mind, his tone amused.

You threw Casian to the wolves, Sin said, and he probably would've let him off the hook if not for that, so... both?

Andreas waved her off. He'll be fine. Shall we place bets then?

On what exactly?

How many bruises Casian will end up getting? How long it will take for him to back off? He's living in the delusion that he'll be fine. Which he will be, eventually. But, doesn't mean he isn't going to be in a whole lot of pain until then.

Sin grinned into his head.

You do realize that I can hear you, right? Thorn interjected.

And you do realize that I don't care, right? Andreas replied. Sin would keep you away if we did.

He sighed deeply. Impossible. His presence faded to the back as his focus went to the brewing fight. Casian was still sitting, apparently not realizing what was happening.

How much are we talking here? Sin asked thoughtfully.

If you win, you don't have to pay me back for all that money you stole. And if I win, you have to wear the shirt you kept. He was very amused, holding her tightly as he said the last bit.

She was silent for a while. First of all, I didn't steal any money. You're the one who decided to overpay the woman -- I just monopolized on a favorable situation. So that's out. And secondly, I'll wear that shirt when I blasted well want to and not before. No deal. She was blushing faintly, Andreas noted.

He nuzzled her neck again. Very well. What do you suggest then, Djin?

Hmm... if I win, I want breakfast in bed for a month. She grinned. Easy enough. And if you win... I'll let you feed me more chocolates.

Why does this seem like a win-win for you?

Because obviously, I never make a bet I can't win. She smirked.

Except, you still aren't getting me to an altar. Not even in the cheat way you were thinking of.

Blast. You saw that...

I saw everything, little Djin.

She grinned. How is that cheating, anyway?

Trying to trick me is cheating.

She scoffed, But tricking is the name of the game, love. That's why it's called a bet -- gambling. No one walks into a game of Blanks without a twist up their sleeve.

You still need a new one. You have about three days left, little Djin.

Andreas vaguely noticed Thorn and Casian glaring at each other, tossing insults back and forth. In every language they knew how to speak. Raiden and the nymph looked exasperated. This is not what I had in mind when I asked Thorn to 'beat' Casian.

Sin chuckled. Give him a minute.

He's not going to destroy my mansion, is he? Andreas said, feigning worry.

About that... should probably get Caelei and Lana out of here. That's what he's waiting for.

Thorn added, rather irritably, If you knew that, why are you still sitting there bantering? I'm running out of insults here.
