Forcing myself to sleep seemed like a battle that I wasn't winning. I couldn't stop my mind from racing around and thinking of everything. My body was aching and screaming for me to shut off, but mind seemed to be running a marathon with thoughts. I wanted to sleep so badly but I couldn't push myself. I couldn't stop worrying about him, well, his powers. He was just led there. He looked lifeless. His shadows were still hovering beside him, they were just as lifeless as he was.
"He has to die at your hand", the hiss shocked me, it had been a while since I'd heard that haunting voice.
"I know." I replied, the fear in my voice was obvious. The ringing in my ears eased off and eventually disappeared. My breathing slowed down and returned to its normal pace. That voice had a way of making my skin crawl, and my ears want to bleed. The voice scared me, but it also empowered me, it made me stronger - it gave me guidance and it reminded me that I am not as weak as the rest of them. I deserved this. I deserved the power that ran through his veins. I would have it, but not yet. I had to gain their trust, I had to convince them I was on their side. Then I could take their power, then I could fulfil her plan and my destiny.
