So my friend asked me to write her an imagine for her birthday which was in January so here it is...2 months later 😅 lmao I'm a bad friend
-------------------------------------------------------

Nothing made me expect she would suggest such an activity but I couldn't say no. The sparkle in her eye when she saw the beast, it was magnificent. He was beautiful, I had to admit. A coat of brown and white. But he was big - at least big to me. And I had no experience with them, nevermind riding them. "He's handsome huh?" Her hand gently grazed his's nose. I just nodded. "What's his name?" "Cookie, he's a gypsy." A seemingly odd name for such a majestic creature and I didn't know what she meant by 'gypsy' but I assumed it was the breed. "Do you want me to get you your own to ride?" "I..." A soft smile spread across her lips like she predicted my next words. "It's okay Y/N, you can totally ride with me." She took my hand giving it a gentle squeeze as I was led to the stables, giving me the likes of a helmet and other essentials before returning to the horse. She threw something called a bareback pad over its back, saying it'll be more comfortable for the both of us. Demi took a hold of the reins before making her way over to a block. I followed behind, a knot forming in my stomach. "Here hold him a second." She passed me the piece of leather and I held on for dear life.  She stepped up the blocks before mounting the animal. "Come on." She held the reins with one hand and held the other out for me. I took it out of courtesy, letting her help me up the blocks. I threw my leg over the side and sitting on top of the horse. The beast shifted and my arms instantly snaked around Demi's waist. A soft giggle drifting to my ears. "Ready?" I mumbled out a confirmation. "No." "You're such a baby. He's okay, aren't you boy?" She patted the horse, giving it a long stroke along its neck. I removed one hand from around Demi and placed my hand against its body. It remained still so I remained calm. The minute it moved, my arm returned to Demi's waist and the horse immediately slowed down. "Thank you." "No worries, you're safe though" her words were soft and filled me with reassurance. "I won't let you fall." I took a deep breath and tried to relax. Steadying my breath with the gentle rhythm of the horses steps as well as the rise and fall of Demi's chest. "Do you wanna stay here or can we go out into the clearing?" "I don't mind." She steered out of the open gate and off down a small path. "I'm gonna go a little bit faster now but I'm right here so don't worry." I felt the rhythm increase as did my heartbeat. My grip tightened. The area was picturesque and I was glad to be sharing with her though. "You really need to relax." "That's easier said than done" A giggle slipped through her lips. We continued at this pace allowing me to relax a little. Slowly I loosened my grip before letting go of her entirely. With a flick of the reins the horse increased and I felt my stomach drop. "Fuck Demi." She just giggled once again.

We eventually came to a halt in an empty field. At this point I was feeling a little nauseous from her changing speeds. Demi offered we stop here and I was more than happy to agree. I pulled my leg over, careful not to kick the other girl and slid down the side of the creature. Without the blocks it seemed scarier. I felt so relieved as my feet hit the lush green grass. I felt a little off balance, it was weird but I was still so relieved. Demi jumped down next. "Do we have to like tie the horse up or something?" "Nah it's cool he can just graze, right boy?" She patted the horse gently on the neck before moving her arm in long strokes again. Demi fell down against the grass and I lay down next to her. "So how do you like horse riding?" She sat up, looking down on me. A gentle smile graced her lips and I couldn't help but smile back. "It's actually terrifying." I laughed and Demi followed my lead. "It's not that bad." "Oh it is but I'm still glad to be here." I watched as Demi frowned, clearly confused. "If you're terrified why would you be glad to be here?" I sat up now. Looked into her chocolate brown eyes and leaned in until our lips almost touched. I could tell she was smirking. I then ever so quietly whispered. "No you're right I hate it." I quickly pushed her away and she dramatically fell back against the grass. "You're a dick." I smiled as I stood, looking down on her. "Yeah but you love me." I held my hand out and our hands soon came into contact. Pulling her to her feet she smiled. "I love Cookie." She stated, flashing a tight smile. "Speaking of which, I'm gonna go get my horse. " Demi jogged to fetch the animal and I watched from afar. She lead Cookie over to me. "Do you mind if I take him for a run before we head back?" "Not at all, go ahead." I shook my head, entranced as she hoisted herself on the back of the horse. "I'll be right back, you can start heading back if you like." With a snap of the reins they were off. I started the journey back to the ranch through the trees. I pulled out my phone, surprised I actually had signal and soon enough I lost myself in my phone. Silence was soon broken by the faint sound of a horse neighing followed by a yell. Red flags flew up in her mind. My breathing increased as I quickly made my way back to the field. It was empty? I looked around slowly. "Demi!" I yelled out. No response. "Demi!" "Yeah?" Thank god. I scanned the area still not able to see her. "Where are you?" An arm shot into view. Rolling my eyes I made my way over. "Why are you lying in the ground? And where is Cookie?" As she swam into view she remained still. "Get up you weirdo." Demi sat up, the sharp intake of air through her teeth only increasing the uneasy feeling in my stomach. "Are you okay?"  "Yeah I'm fine, Cookie just got spooked and threw me off."  My eyes widened. Just? "Can you go find cookie please, he shouldn't have gone far?" "But what about you?" I asked, a sense of panic clear in my voice. "Y/N please?" Sighing I went to look for the horse, leaving my girlfriend injured in a field. I wasn't sure how badly hurt she was but still.

After about an hour I found the gypsy horse. "Finally!" I walked over, taking it slow as not to spook him. Again. The closer I got the faster my heart beat. Can't say I was comfortable. I relaxed once I felt the leather strap of the animals reins in my hand. The horse remained stubborn as I tried to lead it back. "Come on." I yanked it gently. Nothing. A sign escaped my lips. "Cookie." I whined. "We need to go." It's front leg was curled up to avoid putting weight on it. It took about 20 minutes before he finally decided to move. I assumed the horse was hurt but I steadily managed to lead him back to the field where I left Demi. She remained sat in the middle of the field. "You're still here?" "I wanted to see how my baby was." She called back. "You can't get up can you?" "Well yeah there's that too." Bringing the horse over, I helped her to her feet. Supporting her as much as possible. "How's my handsome boy?" Demi asked, patting Cookie. "I think he's hurt his leg." "Fuck I guess we should head back and get him checked out." "And you." Demi gave me a firm nod. We walked back, me supporting Demi as she put at least sixty percent of her weight on me while simultaneously leading poor Cookie back to the stables too. Someone walked over to us, immediately taking the animal from me. "What happened?" I hesitated looking at him. "Uh.." "Something spooked him, I'm not sure what but he's injured his leg so he needs checking out immediately." A look of concern flashed across his face. "Are you okay?" He asked looking towards the girl leaning on me. "Get him checked out!" She demanded and I was a little taken aback by her assertiveness. The guy awkwardly smiled before leading the horse away. "Take care of him." She called out and a soft smile hit my lips. "Do you wanna head home then?" "Sure baby girl, lead the way." She nodded.

Later that night I rested on the sofa, Demi lying with her head in my lap. Ice resting on her ankle. We went to get her checked out too, she was gonna be okay. Just needed to rest and stay off her leg. She'll probably be really sore for a few days too. We were yet to find out if Cookie was okay and Demi seemed unable to relax. "Penny for your thoughts?" I mumbled quietly. "I just feel bad about what happened today." "No need, I had a great day." I smiled reassuringly. "No I feel bad about Cookie, what if something really bad happened to him." I let out a small laugh, of course she meant the horse. "Oh, well I'm sure he is fine Demi, stop worrying." "I hope so." Demi tried to sit up, the pain clearly too much since she feel back into my lap. "Relax babe." She snuggled into me as I slowly ran my hands through her black locks until she fell asleep. It was nice to see her at peace. As I sat there in the darkness my head fell back against the sofa. Thinking about the events of today. If anyone was to get hurt today I would have thought it would have been me and yet here I was, an aching Demi spread across my lap. It was strange. My mind was interrupted by the sound of Demi's phone. I reached over unsure of weather I should answer but I decided it would be for the best if I did. "Hello?" "Demi?" The girl on the other end of the line spoke softly. "Uh no this is Y/N her girlfriend." "Oh." She seemed surprised. "Is she around or?" "Sorry she's in pretty bad condition right now but I can pass on a message if you like?" I stated. "Well I'm Emily I work at the stables." I nodded before realising she can't see me. "Alright and is everything okay?" "Well..." She began as a feeling of dread began to fill my body.
It wasn't extremely bad news but it certainly wasn't great either and I had no clue how I was gonna tell Demi.
