As the sun set, it cast a warm glow throughout the house. A pair of arms wrapped around my waist. A gentle kiss planted on my shoulder. I turned in these arms and was met by a pair of deep brown eyes. Short black hair. A smile spread across my lips at the sight. "I love you so much." She whispered, gently planting a kiss on my lips. "What do you want?" I asked, grinning. "I may or may not have to work on Christmas." She replied reluctantly. Quickly, I backed out of her arms. "What?" "I'm doing a last minute show on...Christmas." My heart dropped as I stared at her lost for words. "Are you gonna say something?" I simply just walked away, into the kitchen. Putting on the coffee machine I ignored the words drifting from my girlfriends lips. "Y/N will you just look at me." Plastering a fake smile on my face, i turned to her. "It was gonna be our first Christmas together and now you're not even gonna be here." I grumbled. "I know and I'm sorry but it was sorted last minute and it's really good promo." "Do whatever you want Demi." I made myself a cup of coffee and one for her. I passed it to her as I walked straight past. "I'm sorry Y/N, I'll make it up to you in a few days." I simply shrugged. Off she went to pack while I sat down in the living room. I stared at the tree, remembering decorating it with her. Arguing over what should go where. Demi wanted it mix and match but I preferred a good old fashioned colour scheme. Christmas music played in the background. She even hung mistletoe just as an excuse to kiss all the time. For the first time In a while I was looking forward to Christmas only to find out she wouldn't even be here. No longer in the Christmas spirit, I went upstairs to pack my bag. This was Demi's place but I could always go back to my little apartment. Alone. Going into the bedroom I saw her zipping up a small suitcase. I walked in silently, beginning to pack up some things I brought. "Where are you going?" Demi asked and a sigh slipped through my lips. "Home." "But I'll be back in a few days and we still have the rest of today." Pursing my lips, I turned to face her. "I'm not in the mood, I just wanna go home." Getting up, the black haired girl made her way over to me. She took me hand in hers but I yanked mine  away, packing my bag at a quicker pace. "Y/N please." "Forget it dem." I finished packing and vacated the premises. Not giving her another word. I don't know why I was so disappointed by this but I was. To the point I didn't want to be around her. I couldn't wait to just be alone in my apartment. I walked inside being met by only darkness. It was actually rather comforting. The only decorations was a small tree I put up my self as I knew I wasn't spending Christmas here...until now.

And with that I spent Christmas alone. Watching movies with hot chocolate. I half expected Demi to come surprise me the entire day but she didn't. I saw pictures of her performance online. Watched a few videos I probably shouldn't have but I missed her. Today I imagined waking up in her arms, the excitement on her face as she was ready to go. We'd go down stairs, coffee in hand and we'd exchange gifts. Snuggling up on the sofa, her wrapped in my arms. I'd cook dinner, she'd wanna help. We'd laugh and chat and just be merry. Share a kiss under the mistletoe as if it was the first time but instead I got loneliness, sadness and I sat in dim light. I bit into a gingerbread man as I stared at my phone. A text soon came in from the girl herself.

Dems 👭: 'Merry Christmas Baby girl! Sorry I've been busy all day. I miss you a hell of a lot, I'll see you tomorrow and I promise I will make it up you. Love you 💕🎄😘'

Me: 'Merry Christmas and I miss you too ❤️'

Part of me was still upset with her, hence my short message but I did miss her. So much. I watched movies late into the night, before drifting off into a deep sleep. When I arose the next day, I was glad the holiday was over only to check my phone.

Dems 👭: 'Babe come back over as soon as possible, I miss you and I have a little surprise for you 🙈💕'

With an intrigued mind, I sat up. Reading her message over and over. What kind of surprise? I got up. Showered and got ready for the day. I made my way over to her house. Not sure what to expect. Knock knock. I waited. The door shot open to reveal Demi's joyful grin. She wore a Santa hat and an hideous Christmas jumper. "Y/N!" Her arms enveloped me, pulling me into a tight embrace. "Hey dem.. She yanked me inside so full of excitement. "What was so urgent I had to get over her?" I asked. "Its Christmas." "No that was yesterday." Demi huffed. "It's today for us, so come on." She took my hand and lead me to the sofa. She passed me a Christmas jumper that matched hers. It was still hideous. Rolling my eyes, I took my jumper off and replaced it with the one Demi gave me. I flashed her a smile and she laughed. "You look great." "Thanks." I responded, a lack of emotion in my voice. "Are you still mad at me?"  "No I'm not mad." She stared at me for a moment. "What's wrong?" "It doesn't matter, I just thought we'd get to spend Christmas together but you picked work over me." My head dropped at words. "I'm sorry but I really needed to do it and that's why we're gonna celebrate today. We can chill out, watch some movies and just enjoy the holidays." Her hand reached under my head, lifting it to look at her. "I promise you." Her lips came into contact with mine. A warm shiver ran through my body. As my hands reached up to grace her cheeks. I intensified the kiss, never wanting to let her go. She backed up slightly, a smile prominent on her face. "Want your presents?" She asked. I simply nodded. The girl jumped up enthusiastically, practically skipping over to the tree. I followed behind slowly. We kneeled down in front of the tree and she passed me a few gifts. I opened them slowly. A Chanel bag which was beautiful to say the least. A gold star necklace, diamonds laced the rim. I widened my eyes at the very sight "Demi..." I mumbled, gently lifting it out the box. "You like?" "I love. This must have cost a fortune." Her beautiful smile appeared. "Money doesn't matter, I just wanna make you happy and look." Turning behind her, she produced another necklace in her hand. It was a small diamond laced moon. "It goes with mine." Demi connected the two necklaces together. "I love you to the stars and back. And what better to go with a star than the moon." "Cheesy but cute." I pecked her lips before opening the other presents. A book. Perfume. A bracelet. And other cute stuff. The last present was odd though. A small little collar. My Y/E/C eyes met hers, confused as she grinned. She ran over to the kitchen before pulling open the door. Out ran a small creature. A fluffy black puppy. "Oh my god." The dog ran up to me, jumping with excitement. Clear to see why Demi picked this little guy. Leaning down I stroked the little guy. "I got him yesterday." "What's his name?" I asked, squirming as the puppy licked me. "I don't know. I got him for us so we can name him whatever." "That's a big step." I mumbled, taking the collar and gently placing it around his neck. "It's just a dog, I'm sure we can handle it." Coming back over to join me. I gave her, her presents. Watching with joy as her face lit up with each one. The rest of the day was perfect to be honest. I cooked the dinner while she chatted away, sitting on the side. Swinging her legs absentmindedly. We snuggled on the sofa, our new puppy with us too. We watched movies for a few hours till she fell asleep on me. The night soon came and I gave my girlfriend a gentle squeeze, she awoke to my smiling face. "I love you so much." I whispered. "I love you to." She leaned up and pecked my lips. "I really am sorry about yesterday you know?" "I know, it's fine." I sighed, remembering my day yesterday. Demi sat up. "No it's not. You're so important to me and I shouldn't have blown you off but-" "but you had to and it's okay." A sad look dashed across her face. "Baby girl, it's okay." I repeated, kissing her forehead. "You've more than made up for it. You basically swooped in and saved Christmas." "What can I say? I am a miracle worker." I laughed slipped through my lips. "If you say so." I sat up, careful not to disturb the dog. My effort was wasted though. The puppy shifted looking up at me. "We still need to name this little guy you know?" "How about batman?" I cocked a brow at her words and her attempt to do a deep Batman voice. "Batman?" "Because he is part of the attempt to swoop in and save Christmas plus he's black." A smile spread from cheek to cheek. "I like it. Batman." I gave her a firm nod. Demi stroked the pup gently. "Batman, our little superhero." She spoke softly, letting her head fall to my shoulder.
"Our little Christmas hero."
