"I'm not sure I like that part. Something seems off." Y/N mumbled amongst the noise of the crowd. Fingers gently strumming the strings of her acoustic guitar. We were having a party. A very chilled one at that. And we were sat off in some corner on the couches. Her gaze drifted to the guy sat beside her.

"Which part?"

"The bridge. The melody doesn't do it for me." She told him. Repeating the soft melody that made up the bridge of the song she was working on.

"I think it sounds great."

With a heavy sigh she faced me. "What do you think Demi?"

It took me a moment to focus before I raised my shoulders in a shrug. "It's okay."

"Just okay? How can I make it better?"

"Maybe try making it more uptempo. I think it'd fit the song better." I told her. She looked at me as if I'd said something wrong but still took my advice. Repeating the bridge. A smile spreading over her lips. She leaned back in her seat, the boy beside almost instinctively putting his arm around her. Planting a soft kiss on her cheek.

"That sounded awesome."

"Much better than before, thanks for the tip Lovato."

Y/N was someone I've known since I was little. She's one of my best friends. But every time I look at her, part of me longs for something more. When we started sleeping together I saw a new side of Y/N. She was soft and gentle. Treated me like Im the most important thing to her. But whenever we were around her boyfriend, she seemed very much into him. Maybe she just wants to get laid but it always felt like something more. "You're welcome."

She continued playing her instrument. Pleasing the crowd with covers of songs. Occasionally people would come up and request something. It was always such a joy to watch her play. Or even sing although she's not the best at it. You could always tell just how much heart she puts into performing. It was something I admired. I watched the way her fingers drifted over the strings. Brought back to reality by a crumpled up piece of paper hitting my head.

"Pay attention to me, what's got you so distracted?"

I wanted to say 'you' but I just shook me head. "Needy much?"

"I wanted to ask if you'd like a drink?"

"Just some water- actually no, a red bull, there should be some cans in the fridge." I presented her with a soft smile and she turned to her boyfriend.

"Order up."

"I'm not your slave, get your cute ass up." He rolled his eyes.

Y/N stuck her bottom lip out in a pout looking to him with puppy dog eyes. "Please, baby."

"That's not gonna work this time." He turned away sharply. Letting go of her guitar, Y/N brought one hand up to grace his cheek and moved him to look at her once more. Bottom lip pushing out just a tiny bit more. He kept his composure for a minute before breaking out into a smile. "Fine! God I hate you."

A triumphant smile was quick to spread over her lips. "Love you too, now go."

Jumping up from her seat, she came over and sat beside me as he wondered off. Guitar in hand. The neck hovered just over my lap. "What should I play?"

"Anything you want.".

She nudged me playfully. "I wanna play something for you, so...?"

"How about one of your original songs?" I suggested and I could see the look of shock breaking her otherwise sunny disposition.

"Nobody ever asks to hear my songs..."
