Chapter 6 – Of Pizza and Shows

After barely making it back to the venue alive, everyone in the dressing room started stuffing themselves with food. While eating a slice of pizza I decided to plug in my phone to charge, since it had died earlier. Immediately upon turning it on it started buzzing out of control.

“Holy shit I think my phone’s exploding.” Harry, the closest to me, turned and looked at it.

“You don’t have it send your twitter notifications to your phone, do you?” I nodded confused as to why that was relevant and him, Niall and Ashton started laughing. Harry calmed down a bit before advising me, “You should disable that.”

I picked up my phone and looked to see hundreds of twitter notifications. Logging onto the app and quickly changing the settings, my phone finally stopped vibrating and I let out a breath. I tried to check my mentions, which took a while because they kept freezing loading so many tweets, before seeing a vine Harry had posted earlier and tagged my band and 5SOS in.

I opened the vine and watched the clips. The first clip was of me, before we started getting chased, carrying the pizza boxes, with them covering my face. The second clip was of everyone opening all of the pizza boxes like wild animals, and the next few clips were of people laughing, talking and eating pizza.

“Awe, this is so cute Harry! I didn’t even know you were filming.” I heard Derek call that he wasn’t cute, he was sexy from across the room but I ignored him.

“I’m a ninja like that,” Harry replied, winking before grabbing another slice of pizza. I decided that was a good idea myself and started reaching for another piece when a voice sounded from the door.

“You know, if you invite the whole audience backstage, there won’t be anyone in the crowd.”

“Carry!” Derek exclaimed before getting up to hug our manager. “We missed you!”

“I missed you guys too,” she joked before coming over and grabbing piece of pizza out of Alex’s hands and taking a bite, “Ready for your first sold out show?”

“Yeah!” We chorused and I added, “And you said I could bring a couple friends when I asked last night!”

“Emily, a couple usually means two!” She replied raising her eyebrow,

“Well maybe that should change.” I mumbled finishing off my slice of pizza before adding, “I should go get ready now.” She looked briefly at her watch.

“Yeah you probably should, you go on in half an hour. But first, let me take a picture of all of you, pass me your phone.”

We all tried to fit on the biggest couch but it wasn’t quite working. Carry just smiled and said that it was good enough before counting down from 3. I heard the click of the camera on my phone and then a thump. I looked over to see Derek on the floor rubbing his side, glaring Michael.

“Jerk!” Michael couldn’t respond because he was laughing too hard.

“Can I see?” I asked reaching for my phone and Carry passed in over.

I looked at the picture from left to right. On the edge of the couch Ashton was sitting on the arm rest making a peace sign and sticking his tongue out, with Niall next to him smiling through a mouthful of pizza. Next to Niall Calum was licking the side of Luke’s face, who looked quite disturbed. Next in line, Harry and I were back to back both with serious expressions and making guns with our hands, pretending to be super spies. Finally, midair from being pushed of the couch Derek looked in shock and Michael’s hand was still in the air after having pushed him, already mid laugh.

“This picture is perfect! I’m posting it to twitter.” I opened to app on my phone. There were a chorus of, ‘Tag me in it’s around me but I didn’t have enough room so I tagged Niall, Harry, the 5SOS band account and my band’s account with the caption, “Had the best night with these idiots!”.

I looked at my newsfeed and saw as it got immediately retweeted by almost everyone in the room, including Carry. Then, my mentions froze.

“Your fans froze my phone again!” I accused and Harry, Niall and all the boys of 5SOS shrugged. I gave up on my phone, throwing it onto the other couch, and went to change.

After changing in the bathroom into some dark jeans and a short top and re-applying some eye liner and mascara I returned to the room, and then was pulled outside by Carry, with Derek and Alex. We went over the lineup with her and talked about some upcoming promotional events that she wanted us to attend before it was finally time to start. We returned briefly to the dressing room to see that Kate and Brooke had arrived and told everyone where they could watch the show without being seen before getting ready to be introduced.

The show was amazing. I loved performing with Derek and Alex; we would joke between songs and dance, fool around and change some of the words while we were playing. We performed a couple covers, including Try Hard, and some original material we had been working on for our first album. The concert seemed to end too fast and we said goodbye to the audience.

Walking backstage Derek, Alex and I found ourselves in the middle of a group hug that included way too many people. I couldn’t quite distinguish what everyone was saying, my ears were still ringing from being on stage and I had a huge smile on my face, but all the comments sounded like approval. We excused ourselves and went to do a brief meet and greet with everyone who had attended the show, and before we knew it, it was 10 at night.

With the help of the crew, our group of friends and the trolley we had everything packed up pretty quickly and I was ready to pass out. We sat on the steps outside the venue waiting for the boy’s security to come and collect them to help them get past all the fans at their hotel.

“You guys were really great!” Michael enthused and then winked as he continued, “I like how you used just the bass guitar for the bridge of Try Hard this time.”

“We were trying something new,” I joked back and Niall came and joined our conversation.

“You guys should all come see our show tomorrow night!” He proposed, “It would be really fun! You could meet the rest of my band.”

“And you can see us open for them!” Michael piped in.

“That sounds fun; I don’t think we’re doing anything. We only have another gig in a couple nights, and all I have besides that is school.” I waved it off, music trumped school in every single way.

“Okay, I’ll work it out all call you with details tomorrow morning?” Niall asked.

“Perfect.”

A/N: I can hopefully post another chapter tonight, but I have to go work with my horse for a bit. She decided to start acting out two days before the show, great.
