Chapter 9 - Goodbyes
I hugged Derek and Alex harder, trying not to cry.
“I’m actually going to miss you idiots so much.” I mumbled into Alex’s shoulder.
“Hey! We’re going to see you again in two weeks! And if we’d stayed and tried to talk to you while you were studying, you would have bitten our heads off.” Derek joked but I could see he was upset too.
“When have I ever done that!” I asked pulling away from the hug, looking at them accusingly.
“Do you not remember last exams?” Alex asked raising his eyebrow.
“Yeah you came over to our house, sat on our couch and yelled at us when we talked! In our own home!” Derek laughed, “We moved into your house for that weekend and your mom was so confused.”
I ducked my head embarrassed and hugged them each again.
“I’m still going to miss you guys, you better Skype me every night.” They both agreed before we heard their flight being announced and all of our happy expressions dropped.
“Guess we better go, kiddo.” Alex said ruffling my hair a frown on his face.
“I’m older then you don’t go there!” I said forcing a smile and ruffling his hair back. We all hugged, for what seemed to be the hundredth time in the last 20 minutes, but none of us minded.
I watched as they walked away and turned and waved before they disappeared around the corner. Sighing I started the walk back to the car to go home.
The only upsides to the next week were the daily Skype calls with my boys and the fact that I got to use Derek’s car while he was gone, although I got multiple texts a day asking if it was okay. The rest of my time consisted of sitting through review in school and studying seemingly endlessly at home. Brooke still wasn’t talking to me, though I’d apologized the next time I saw her. She claimed that I was ‘changing’ and she didn’t like who I was becoming. Kate remained by my side, but I didn’t see her much because she never seemed to be without a textbook in front of her face. When I did get chances to talk to Kate she suggested that Brooke was just stressed, and taking it out on me.
“And then the guy started cussing Alex out! All he did was bump into him but the guy like, went off his rocker!” Derek enthused over Skype one night.
“Yeah but I couldn’t take him seriously because his accent was too cool!” Alex added, a huge smile on his face.
“It was actually hilarious!” They high fived before turning back, “How goes studying?”
“Awful,” I ran my hand through my hair, “It’s stressing me out and I can’t concentrate because I’m too excited for next week!”
“I know I can’t even sleep at night I’m so excited.” Alex shared before being interrupted by Derek,
“Yeah it’ll be 3am and this dork will wake me up because he can’t sleep!”
“Don’t lie you aren’t sleeping either, I can see the light from your phone.” Alex replied shoving Derek who smiled sheepishly.
“Have you seen the boys much?” I asked propping my elbows on the table.
“We saw the lads of 5 Seconds of Summer for the first day, but they had to leave to prepare for their tour.” Alex said, a little disappointed, “But we’ve been hanging out with the One Direction boys whenever they aren’t busy. But they seem busy all the time; I don’t know how they do it.”
“Yeah, and it’s crazy going anywhere with them because they are recognized and we get surrounded. If I were them I’d never go out without security. I almost forgot! Someone recognized us! They asked for our autographs and we took pictures with them. Isn’t that so cool? I didn’t even know people in England had heard of us!” His eyes almost sparkled with the possibility.
“That’s amazing! What did they say?” I asked and Alex replied enthusiastically before Derek could.
“It was a group of 5 girls and they said they were so excited to meet us, they didn’t know they were in London. One of them had been watching our Youtube videos from the beginning; she said she couldn’t wait until we did a tour that included Europe someday so she could see us in concert.”
“Do you think we’ll ever be able to do that? Tour Europe?” Derek asked.
“I don’t know, I can’t even get over touring the US!” I laughed, “I can’t believe the girl had been watching that long! That’s amazing, remember when we had 100 views on our video and we were so excited?”
“Yes! And your mom made us cupcakes to celebrate?” Alex added, joining in on the laughter.
“Do you think she can make us tour cupcakes?” Derek asked seriously, “She is the best cook.”
“Sadly, I don’t think I’d be able to take them on the plane.” I pretended to pout but then I caught sight of the time and counted 3 hours ahead in my head. “How late is it there?”
“It’s just past 3 in the morning,” Derek replied reaching behind the laptop and coming up with chips he started to eat.
“You guys should be asleep! You should have told me,” I chastised frowning.
“We missed you though,” Alex said stealing some chips for Derek, “Who needs sleep anyway?”
“Go to bed!” I laughed at their pouting faces, mouths filled with chips, “Night! Love you guys!”
I heard a chorus of ‘Love you too!’ before I ended the call and turned off my computer, taking my own advice and getting some sleep.
A/N: Here's the next chapter! Don't worry, it gets more interessting. I'm just setting up the story :) What do you guys think of Alex and Derek? I'll post the next chapter if this one gets 5 votes like the last one! .xx
