m a i s yAfter a week of preparation, I still couldn't believe I was about to graduate, I mean only just a few days ago I had turned eighteen. I fixed my cap and waited patiently in line as they read name by name the members of my class.
"Amber Khalen."
Amber who stood in front of me started walking up the stairs, I watched as she shook hands with both the principal and the special guest speaker.
"Maisy Kindler."
I took a deep breath slowly walking up the stairs, everyone was looking at me and I was afraid I might fall in a freak accident, but I didn't. I shook Principal Evers hand firmly as he handed me my diploma.
"Congratulations Maisy." He said kindly.
"Thank you." I responded walking to my assigned seat in the front as valedictorian. I sat their subtlety shaking my right foot as I heard dozens more names called out.
"Zayn Malik."
My eyes rose and I watched as Zayn walked, he had an adorable smile plastered on his face. He had even shaven his facial hair off. when all the names of our class had been called and seated principal Evers turned to me.
"At this time we will have Maisy Kindler give the Valedictory Address."
The warm breeze brushed against my face as I walked across the stage. My hands wrapped around the mic carefully as I brought it closer to my lips, ready to give my speech.
"Students, faculty, and parents that have joined us today... I am glad to say we made it through the these past four extraordinary years together. It wasn't always easy... but it was a great experience, and a great base for what to expect in life. My fellow students, I hope you remember to do one thing at a time. Give each experience all your attention. Try to resist being distracted by negativity. I hope everyone leaves here today with great expectations, insanely high goals, dreams to achieve and most importantly, I hope you aren't afraid to take a risk, a chance, to fail. That's a lesson I have recently learned." I said looking across the student body.
I thought of Harry and how proud he'd have been, and I remembered something he told me once.
"-Because failure is one of the major keys to success and many forget that. Someone once told me that sometimes to see the rainbow you have to go through the rain. There will be plenty of rain to go through in life, but if you want to see that rainbow you'll endure tsnyamies of pain, thunderstorms of hard work to reach what you want. I know each and everyone of you, and there is nothing I wish for all of you but endless happiness and success, because you are more than capable of achieving it. Class of 2016, best of luck!"
They started clapping, and cheering, whistling in celebration, they started rising to their feet and I was awe. I glanced over to my family, my mother, father, my uncle and will all looking very proud, I saw Collin as well.
There was one particular person I found myself looking for in the crowd though I knew he wouldn't be there. I shook my principals hand once more before sitting down in my assigned seat.
There was one short speech done by Zayn, and my Principal Evers, did the closing remarks. It was an awfully sunny day warming my pale skin. It was such a beautiful day.
"Once again I give you, the remarkable class of 2016!" Mr. Evers said.
He had just let the words off his tongue before the class station throwing their navy blue graduation caps up in tradition. I threw mine up looking at it soar before catching it.
