"I wanted to be around him"
m a i s y

I let out a groan as I searched diligently for my AP binder in my extremely crammed locker, I nearly died when a pair of hands wrapped around my arm. Looking over I saw my annoying cousin Will, "What the hell, why would you do that?"

"Because," he said. " You're to uptight and its A Monday."

Oddly enough he had a point. That didn't stop me from lazily smacking him on the arm. Mondays as far as I'm concerned are a crime against humanity. His blue eyes glanced over at a picture of Colin and I at the beach from like...two years ago.

"You still like him don't you?" he teased.

Instantly I felt myself start to get defensive, "No, I just... we're friends. Can't I simply have a picture of a good friend in my locker. That's not the only photo I have in here ya know."

He patted my shoulder smiling down at me, "Sure thing bud, I get it. Don't want to take it down, too soon? I mean what... you guys only broke up about a four months ago or something... and I counted five. Out of the seven pictures you have taped up, he's in five."

"Will! Shut up and leave me alone." I whined pushing him away. "And it was three, three months ago."

"Love you too cuz."

He ran a hand through his tousled dirty blonde locks, that stuck up a little around his ears, we had similar features only I felt like they looked better on him.

Good genes ran in my family, Will was your boy next door kind of guy, didn't really apply himself as much as he should've with education but naturally picked up things extremely well.

"You need to cut your hair." I noted.

He laughed his thin lips tugging into another lovely smile, "God I hate you. My hair is the best thing about me, I will never cut it."

It did look nice on him, "Whatever Sasquatch."

"oh my dad wanted to know if you and your parents were gonna come over to our house for Christmas." he asked leaning on the locker beside mine.

"Do I have to attend this event?"

He laughed pushing away from my locker, "I'll take that as a yes. See ya around."

I watched as his solid frame ducked into the body of students, god was he a character. Finally I had located my binder and walked towards AP.  Out of nowhere my feet tripped up and I ended up dropping my binder along with numerous papers and a few my school objects.

I looked up to see the source of my fall, and of course it was Emma- she was a senior as well. She was... fourth in the class and hated me with a burning passion.

Now, standing in front of me her smile slowly grew. Oh- it was no mystery, I knew the exact reason for her hatred. Emma for whatever reason decided to compete against me in everything academic.

Emma also liked Colin, she had always had a major crush on him. I'm sure she still does, because well... Even I still care about him. I was never going give Will the satisfaction of being right, what kind of cousin would I be if I did that?  My mother always said jealousy was an ugly thing. I bit my tongue, but god does Emma really test me sometimes.
