It's hard to wait around for something you know might never happen, but it's even harder to give up when you think it's everything you want.
Song: Lover, Please Stay/ by Nothing but Thieves
Melanie's POV:
Arriving at Hazel's house took longer than I thought it would. However, what surprised me the most was the house itself. When I first heard about her parents' house I imagined a normal, little villa or something similiar, something that can be described as 'cute'. But I surely didn't expect a mansion.
It was huge and screamed luxury, even from the outside. I also saw a swimming pool just behind the mansion with the garage next to it. I just stared all of them in amazement.
"So I am taking you liked it?" Hazel giggled next to me as she took a few other bags in her hands. I turned to her with my mouth still open.
"This is- Wow. You didn't tell me you were rich?" Hazel laughed and signaled with her head towards the main door as she started walking.
"You never asked!" I laughed a little and shook my head, still in the shock of the great mansion. I then thought how every stereotyped rich person would be a snob. Hazel was the opposite of that.
It was actually hard to find something bad about Hazel.
"Come," she gently took my hand and guided me inside the house. I didn't mean to be obvious but, holding hands was not something I expected to happen so I might have flinched a little.
Fortunately she just looked back at me and smiled.
"My aunt currently stays here with my cousin. My parents are out of town for a while." She said as I nod and we arrived to the living room.
The first thing that captured my attention was actually a who. The woman in her long green dress was writing something while sitting on a desk chair. She screamed elegant and business with her outfit. I couldn't actually see her face because she was writing.
"Aunt Vicky!" Hazel screamed and quickly ran over to her aunt, leaving me behind. Her aunt only had the chance to look up for a second before getting a bear hug from Hazel.
"Hazel, dear!" The old woman giggled and hugged back. I just watched this reunion from distance, with a smile on my face. They looked really happy to see each other; which actually made me miss my family.
"How is my lovely girl?" She said as she pushed a few strands of Hazel's hair from her face. Hazel smiled widely.
"Excellent. I missed you so much aunty." The old woman smiled.
"Me too bunny, me too." Then her head slowly turned towards me as she raised an eyebrow, intimidating me a little.
Her features looked fairly beautiful. A strong jaw and cheekbones, with her pointy nose. She looked intimidating, dominating. And the thin, dark eyebrows didn't make the look any softer.
"And who is this lady?" She asked with a much harsher voice in spite of the softer look. Hazel too looked at me and smile, getting off her aunty's lap. She walked towards me and winked at me as she turned her back to her aunt.
"Her name is Melanie, aunty. She is a very good friend of mine. I, actually, invited her to Paris to stay here." She spoke as she looked dreamy at me, making me avoid her intense gaze for some reason.
"Oh..." her aunt just said, still examining me from head to toe.
She then turned back to her aunt and sighed. " I am sorry I didn't tell you before. I wanted to surprise you."
