WARNING:
MINOR Pretty Little Liars spoilers.
Today was the last day of school before winter break, and I kept checking the clock every thirty minutes. Two more classes after this, and then it'd be over. I could finally go home and sleep for eternity.
The school year so far had been killing me. Naturally, I have insomnia. But I haven't had to deal with it in quite a while because of how tired I am. I pass out in a matter of seconds when I get the time to. I haven't had the time to get a good night's sleep in a long time, that's what it feels like at least.
"Ms. Young, may I speak with you outside?" Mrs. Bellisario says to me after she's assigned people what they need to do.
I gulp and stand up. I'm a goody-two-shoes, so this isn't usual for me. Getting in trouble is the rarest thing to happen to me in my entire life. Mrs. Bellisario was very harsh, but to me she was actually pretty sweet. Maybe because it's history, and I have good grades in her class. I can't help how interested that I am when it comes to learning about those who lived before me and made a huge mark on the world. That's what I want to do.
But the old woman was as much as you'd expect. Keeps her ratty gray hair up in a bun, wears dresses that are clearly out of style, and has a very disciplined learning policy. She's very cranky and crabby, and I don't understand why she's still working at the high school.
"Yes?" I stutter as we step out into the hall. I'm ready to take the blow. I don't even know what I did, but I plead guilty because I really don't want her to get mad at me.
"Are you okay?" She says hushed, to my surprise.
"Yes, why wouldn't I?"
"Well, you've been very distracted today. And that isn't like you in the slightest. Is everything alright?"
"I guess I'm just excited about the holidays," I try to plaster a convincing smile on my face. "Don't worry, everything is fine."
"Well, alright. Just tell me if anyone is bothering you, I'll be sure to get it dealt with as soon as possible."
"Okay," and we walk back into class.
I stare at my assignment. That's it, I don't read any of the directions or write anything. I stare at it. And I did that for the remaining fifteen minutes of the period, even when the bell rung I was still in a trance. But in my trance, I was thinking about how good it would feel to flop on my bed and never speak to anyone again. Just sleep, on my fluffy, fat, pink cotton candy. Not die necessarily, but just sleep my problems away and wake up a year later to go to Miami with Talon.
"Lileona Young," Brendon taps me on the head and I look up to see everyone leaving the room except for us.
"Sorry, I was just..."
"I need to speak to you in private," he smirked at me and winked. I noticed how extra preppy he looked today. He was wearing a tie, and he doesn't even believe in ties. He was also wearing preppy shoes, and he had fake glasses on. And I couldn't forget the black fedora that sat on his messy hair.
I noticed a girl was waiting at the door frame, to see what would happen next. She was the new foreign exchange student from Finland. That's how I realized that Brendon was trying to impress her.
I glared at him, oh I glared so hard. Is that even a thing? If not, I just made it a thing. He was pretending to be a teacher! I wanted to slap the smug smile off his face so badly. Besides, Ezria has already been there and done that.
"Mr. Bishop, no hats in school. That's your second warning, next time it'll be detention." Mrs. Bellisario calls him out. The girl turns around to leave, but not without a scoff. Yes!
