The cotton candy was very comfortable. Maybe this should be the new thing, beds made out of cotton candy. I mean, if you got locked in your room and had no food and were close to dying of starvation, you could just eat your bed. Granted, you wouldn't have anywhere to sleep, unless you had some other sort of furniture in your room. Why haven't scientists thought of this yet?
"Why is she biting air?" Someone faintly says.
"Couldn't tell you." A more feminine voice responds.
"Stop talking about me." I command through a yawn.
"You're awake!" Now I can make out the voice, which is Brendon's.
"Yeah, and I was having a wonderful dream you imbeciles." I scold with closed eyes.
"I've never heard you say that word before."
"I like trying new things." I opened my eyes, and saw that Maria was sitting on my bed next to Brendon.
"Do you know what happened?" Brendon asks.
"I'll probably remember later, but just tell me now."
"You fainted." Brendon blatantly stated.
"Oh, well of course I did. Any apparent reason why?"
"I'm pretty sure it's blood loss." Brendon answers.
I make a face showing that I had no idea what he meant by "blood loss" but then I remembered that slash in my abdomen.
"Shit," I curse, pulling up my shirt to show the white wrap around my body. Surprisingly, it was only white.
"I didn't know what to do and I assumed it was blood loss so I saw Maria in the hall and she helped me bring you home and help out."
"So why not take me to the hospital?"
"I know you aren't ready to tell your mom."
"True." I shrugged. "But... Does Maria know?" I spoke of her like she wasn't even there.
"No. I specifically picked Maria because I can understand you wouldn't want to tell Talon, and maybe if you were okay with it you'd give her some closure? She will most likely take it better than Talon will. And there has to be a time you'll tell her."
I sighed at Brendon. He was very right, I should tell her. Now that she had seen the cut and helped clean it up, she knew something was off. And she also would definitely take it better than Talon would.
"Okay, I'll tell her." I sighed heavily.
"You guys are freaking me out. Is it really this serious?" Maria finally speaks.
"Kind of." I say at the same time that Brendon says "Yes."
"But under one condition. You have to give me a massage." I tell Brendon. He rolls his eyes, but behaves and sits behind me. "And no tickling!"
"That was hilarious." He comments while we both reflect on the last time he gave me a massage and tickled me.
So I tipped my head back as he massaged my back and shoulder blades and closed my eyes.
"Okay, so to sum it all up, Trevor abused me shortly after we started dating and then when I wanted to end it he took me out to this forest place and put a cut in my stomach, branded me and kicked me a bunch but now he's left me alone." I told her coolly.
"Wait, wait, wait, back that up! You're telling me the whole time you were dating Trevor, he was abusing you?"
"Not the whole time, only like 4/5 of the relationship." I talk like it was no big deal.
