When I'm walking down the hall, I see Brendon hanging out with the jocks. Typical. He's leaning against the locker and running a hand through his hair, and I couldn't care less.
But let's be honest, every other girl in the hall could.
I glance at them and they're all just stuck in a trance, some look to others with fury in their eyes like they're going to fight til the death to have him.
This includes Gillian in front of me. Wait, let me explain something first.
Each posse has seven people each, no more than that. The rank of their popularity and importance is where you stand. Let's start with Gillian's posse, the Plastics. A clear reference there.
Gillian is the front of the line, so everyone notices her first. Then it's me and Angie, slightly behind her but next to her. We're the second people to be noticed. The last four are just for looks, nobody actually knows their names. Ours are Ciara, Natalie, and the two others are missing. Currently, we're hunting down sophomore's and under to find the last two in the back. The other two from last year were seniors, and I'm sure that Gillian doesn't even remember which name goes to which face. And frankly, neither do I.
So yeah, there's that. Then there's the Jocks. The leader is Simone Johnson, he's the schools Bad Boy. Last year the two next to him were Ivan Smith, The Golden Boy, and Micah Roberts, The Brains. He was recently kicked to one of the fourth in the back because of Brendon.
It's a shame, really. Micah is the one decent guy, he has a serious relationship, works hard for his grades (IV league hard for sure) and a great athlete. He also participates in a lot of activities and even helps the janitor. The only reason he was even part of The Jocks to begin with was because it was good for their image, as if they weren't all that bad.
The last three are guys I don't even know the names to, I just know their faces. Like I said before, not all that important.
Oh, and Gillian and Simone are the on and off relationship. They cheat. A lot. Currently, they're on.
"Hey baby," Gillian interrupted as we walked up to them. She caressed Simone's arm flirtatiously, and leaned her head on his shoulder.
What the hell is wrong with females this century?
Something else happens, but I'm too busy staring at Talon at the end of the hall who is smiling bigger than I've ever seen him smile before, and I realize he's talking to a girl.
Oh. My. God.
It takes every muscle in my body to stop me from rushing over to him after the lady leaves, because I have to stand by Gillian. Always stay in line, or you'll be in for it. It's to show that the leader has power over her friends, and that we're "loyal". The only exception is if we have a boyfriend, we can rub up against him too. But he has to be one of the jocks. And I hate all of them, so it looks like I'm stuck here.
All I'm thinking is, who is this girl that is making my best friend so happy. I've never seen her before, but it looks like they've known each other for a while. And it makes me so thrilled to see Talon so happy.
He doesn't notice me, but he goes separate ways with the girl. But I keep staring anyways.
"Hello?" a voice brings me back into reality. Specifically, a very sexy one.
I look back to Gillian, but I see a taller figure in front of me instead. All the girls have gone closer to Gillian, and I was left in the back.
I have to tilt my head back a little bit to look Brendon in the face since he's so freakishly tall. Which is another reason I find him irresistible, but believe it or not, I can contain myself.
