I dedicate this chapter to my amazing friend EJ or @TeBread on wattpad. He was been such a huge inspiration to me and he is another reason I started writing his chapter. He is also the influence behind the my character King. So don't forget to check out his story Nevermore it's really good and it another DCUO fanfic. Without further ado here is chapter five: Khandaq.

Third Person POV.

The team, excluding Kana and Kai, had arrived at Khandaq. They were in the old ruined city of Shiruta where buildings had fallen apart and the only standing building was the temple of Isis, the burial ground for Black Adam's deceased wife Isis. A Bestiamorph, a minion of Circe, waited for them near a broken pillar. The beast was a hog that stood on two legs like a human and it wore Greek style armor. He began talking in a very deep voice as the team approached him.

"The water here is infused with water from the Lazarus pit. It is resurrecting dead citizens. You must plug the aquaducts to stop further undead from rising. Then make your way to the temple. Black Adam is there." The beast growled.

Carl nodded and lead the team to the entranceway of the aquaducts. Immediately mummies rose from the dry sands. Carl balled his fist and his hands glowed with blue energy. His butler clothes instantly changed into an intimidating combat suit. His long, sleeveless, blue and gold trench coat reached his legs. He wore black pants and matching tall boots. His cape had a large collar that stood on hold shoulders.

"Finally some action!" Lynx exclaimed as he activated his ring. "Die!"

Lynx sliced through mummies with his claws, jumping from enemy to enemy. Lyna joined him and started cutting through enemies with her small blades.

Carl trapped a rock in one of his bubbles and plugged an aquaduct with it. Suddenly four tall mummies rose for the ground.
"We are the Waterkeepers! You won't stop our water supply!" They shouted in unison.

One of them swung it's long arm at King but he swiftly moved, leaving a trail of black souls behind. He then lifted his arm causing the souls to surround the mummy. Then he spread his fingers, making the mummy's head and limbs separate from its torso. It's black blood stained the ground around him.

Tolen shot three missiles from his suit's shoulder at the next mummy. The mummy dodged one of them but they next one caught him and blasted him into the air. The last missile exploded, obliterating the mummy.

Rae summoned a tornado around another mummy, spinning him around until the force threw him in the air. Then he jumped and kicked it's head off.

Lyna jumped and wrapped her legs around the next mummy's neck, then she flipped him backwards into Lynx's grasp. Lynx then ripped him in half.

Carl placed another rock in the last aquaduct. As the water stopped flowing, hundreds of little scarabs crawled from beneath the sand. Carl instantly used a skinny blue beam of arcane energy to disintegrate each of the scarabs.

"We're done here. The temple is this way." He pointed. "Um does anyone else think that was way too easy-" Rae was interrupted by the ground shaking. Suddenly a giant undead soldier rose from the sand. His skin was decaying and his jaw and tongue hung off of his face. In his lanky right arm, he held a rifle.

He immediately started firing at the team. King put up a black wall of souls that blocked each of the bullets. The soul wall had thousands of faces that appeared as if they were screaming in agony but it made no sound. Lynx jumped over the wall and swatted the gun out of his hand, then tried clawing him but the soldier moved with ease. He grabbed Lynx's hand and threw him into a wall where Lynx caught himself. The hand of Tolen's suit transformed into a minigun and shot rounds of bullets at the soldier. The bullets passed right through the undead veteran and he wasn't phased by any of them so Tolen shot an electric grenade at him. The soldier shook violently for a moment then quickly recovered.
