Chapter 12: Long Live The King

This one is gonna be kind of a short one but if you've made it this far in my story, I love you 😘. Now back to our regularly scheduled program. ☺️

All that Lyna could see was flashes of an old building in Chinatown. The building looked abandoned but a familiar voice whispered for her and Kana to go there, then her eyes popped open.

"Good morning sleepy head." Kana said from across the room.

She was sitting in the bed in her pajamas watching cartoons on the flatscreen in the middle of the room while eating a bowl of fruity pebbles. Lyna rubbed her eyes and yawned."

"Did we win?" She said in a very sleepy voice.

"Kinda... We got King back... We kinda got beat up though." Kana said without looking away from the screen.

"I'm gonna rip that peppy bitch Kenzie's head off!" Lyna fumed.

"Well you'll get your chance soon. Lex said we're going to take them out."

"We didn't... Lose... Anyone did we?" Lyna asked hesitantly.

"Nope, everyone's fine. Just a little sore." Kana said while rubbing her arm.

"Alright..." Lyna grunted as she rolled out of bed. "How are you feeling today?"

"Okay I guess... Just another day without Carl. He was like a father to me. I just really miss him."

"I know, I'm just glad you're a little better. It's about time I taught you to defend yourself." She said then walked into the bathroom.

"I can handle myself!" Kana said slightly aggravated.

"From a distance, sure." Lyna said as she turned in the shower water. "But what if your enemy is all up in your face?"

"I punch them in the throat of course."

"What if you miss."

"..."

"That's what I thought. I'm gonna teach you to kick some ass." Lyna yelled through the bathroom door.

Kana rubbed her arm. "Can we wait? I'm still kinda sore from yesterday."

"Oh yeah sure we can wait. Let's just wait right up until the Vengeance League is holding a sword to your throat." Lyna said sarcastically from the shower. "They're getting stronger by the day and you want to wait... Pfft... I refuse to lose to them again and I REFUSE to let you die by their hands!"

"Fine... We can train... Gosh." Kana said while putting her bowl of cereal down on the table."

"I thought you might come around." Lyna smiled. "We'll start after we come back from Chinatown."

"Chinatown? Why are we going back there?"

"I had this weird dream of this place, now I have to go check it out."

"Lyna have you not seen any scary movies? The curious teenager goes into the strange house and gets chopped up with an axe by a man in a red shirt."

"Really Kana? You know if anyone came near me with an Axe, their arm would be removed from their body quicker than they could process the thought of swinging it at me."
