Dangerous Pursuit

Chapter 3

I postponed my plan. I heard from the other nurses that the police were able to locate the relative of Mr. 'Ashley Hamilton'. So I want to see what happens next before I make a move. I must admit it, I can't just abandon Jeremy. What if he needs help? After all he has been a good friend.

As I enter the hospital, I saw Jeremy is being transferred in an ambulance. An old lady is talking with Dr. Servado and officer Armton.

"Sorry, girl," I hear the flirt voice of Gina at my back, "say goodbye to prince charming. He turns out to be a rich guy. Poor guy, he was kidnapped and the family failed to give the ransom immediately. I heard he tried to escape his captors that left him half dead. They will transfer him now to his hometown. You know he kinda like me."

She left without letting me say a word. Bitch.

I got nervous when the eyes of the old lady lock into mine. I feel trouble.

I tried to ignore her eyes and slowly walk inside the hospital but I can't do that without passing near her which I felt that she's just waiting for me to do so.

I walk in my regular manner and acting natural. I am trained with this. I am supposed to be a regular nurse just quite curious to a regular patient.......a not so regular patient who happens to be a criminal case......whatever........ I should act a little curious too like my colleagues......

"Oh, my poor child.....am so glad that he is okay. I am glad that a good person helped him." She suddenly bursts into half whisper with matching tears. Her façade of a troubled mother is really selling. I know she intentionally want me to hear.

Dr. Servado who happens to be at her side tried to calm her by patting her shoulders. "He will be fine Mrs. Hamilton."

"Yeah, he will be." Then her bag suddenly fell just as I am passing.

Okay, I have to get it for her. Oh boy, I really can't run with this. Plan B should be implemented soon.

As I pick her bag and gave it to her she looks at me with a knowing look. "Thank you my dear for your help."

I know she is emphasizing the way Jeremy was able to contact her. She can smell me as I can smell her. We came from same piece of cloth I may say. And it is bad news for me for long time I don't want to be reminded of it.

"Oh doctor, who will accompany me to bring my child to another hospital? Is it you my dear?"

Oh shit what is her game now. I can't go anywhere. I can't leave my child. Shit this is getting worst.

"Oh nurse Gina will be the one." Thanks Dr. Servado for saving my ass. I just smiled at her as I handle her her bag which she intentionally did not catch from my hands.

"Oh," her face suddenly became sour while she reaches her bag which she intentionally hangs in the air between me and her, "the girl who can't put off her hands on my boy's body?"

I almost choke at her bluntness. Typical Gina I may say.

Dr. Servado sigh and look at me. Shit. Of course he has to please the rich madam on her demands.

"Okay Sandra you can accompany Mr. Hamilton."

"Doctor I can't..........where.......for how long......?"

"Oh that can be arrange dear. I have my private nurse and doctor on the chopper. You just have to accompany us up to that point and I will let my driver bring you back here in time."

No escaping now. I know she wants to talk to me.

"Okay then Sandra, I got you covered." Dr. Servado assured me. "No need to report back here today. Just come tomorrow for your regular duty."
