They lead me through the city, with many stares at our group. I looked down at the ground and tugged at my jacket in reassurance to myself. They took me to a big white building in the middle of the city. On the top was a big sign that said BLI. Better Living Incorporated. What a fuckin sham. Making things better all the time. Whatever, more like conforming people so they aren't annoying? The whole damn city is the same. I can't tell girls from boys, or where each house is. It's so unfamiliar. There's no color anywhere. It's like an insane asylum.
We weaved through the building until we got to a particular room, it looked like a security room. There people looking at cameras from all around the city. A woman watching them looked over at the incomers and smiled when she saw me.
"You got her." She said, her voice sounding like ice.
"Yes ma'me." Baldy answered putting a hand on my shoulder and pushing me forward. I catch myself quickly and stand tall. Trying my best to look brave when really, I was scared to death.
"Leave us." She ordered.
After they had left, she walked over to me and circled me like a shark, like she was analyzing me. She smiled, pleased with herself, and knelt down to my height.
"You are going to be such a great help." She squeaked with a smirk.
"They're coming." I say simply.
"What?" She cocked her head.
"They're coming."
Then the alarm went off. They're here.
My eyes open slowly open. I can't feel anything below the middle of my back. I can tell my head is resting on someone's lap, but who's I don't know. I groan and try to turn onto my side, but I just end up getting a shot of pain go through me.
"Woah, woah, woah, don't try to move just yet." A voice comes into my mind. I look up and there is a man looking back down at me. He looks... familiar.
"W-where am I?" I manage out.
"Doesn't matter. What matters is you being okay... even if my friends mangle me when I get back." He muttered. I giggle, for some unknown reason.
"Oh yeah, you're super drugged up so you probably aren't going to remember any of this." He smirked.
His smile looked so familiar, where did I know it from.
"Why are you smile?" He asked smiling wider.
"You look like someone I used to know." I tell him.
"Oh yeah? Who was he?" The man said.
"I can't tell you his name... super top secret." I bop his nose and continue "He was in this group of protectors. There was him and... and... 3 others... the red one was my favorite."
He snorted but nodded for me to continue.
"They were the only family I had... for the longest time it was just the 5 of us against the world... but then..."
"Then what?"
"Then they died, all of them, protecting me... it was my fault..." I trail off.
"I'm sure that's not-"
"It is! I was the one who got captured! They came to save me, if I hadn't been born they would still be alive."
"Don't say that"
"I cried for a week. Locked myself away from everyone. I refused to believe they were dead. He promised when he gave me this jacket he would always be there for me.... But I guess recently, I've begun to give up."
He was quiet, but there was something I his eyes, anger, confusion, guilt. When he noticed me staring at me he smiled.
"I'm sure they wouldn't want you to cry over them, they would want you to move on and grow stronger." He pointed out
"I know, I just wish they could be here with me..." I say quietly.
"Well, maybe you're right... maybe they really are still alive."
"If they were, why wouldn't they let me know, or come get me... it's all so messed up."
I can feel my eyes getting heavy again and I start to close them.
"Go to sleep, we'll move tomorrow. You need your rest for what's to come."
You wanted to ask what he meant but you had already closed your eyes.
"Get some rest sunshine."
The words echo in your ears.
(Unknown's POV)
I can't believe it's really her. It's been so freaking long. The boys will be ecstatic when they see her, maybe they'll hate me a little less. And she kept the jacket! That's so awesome. I just wish she didn't blame herself about what happened, 10 years of hating yourself is a long time. But she'll be okay. She's our sunshine, she always pulls through.
SOOO who could this mystery guy possibly be? Any ideas? Tell me in the cooments.
