The silent car ride killed me. I curled up with my back to the door, tears staining my face. I clutched the jacket around myself, trying to image it with Poison here with me. I don't know where it went wrong. We were on our way, then everything went wrong. I wiped my eyes and tried to calm myself.

'Don't let them know you're afraid. They feed off of others fear.'

Fun Ghoul had told me that a while ago. When he was practicing aim, I would watch him. Fun Ghoul could always make me laugh. I love him. He was like a big brother. Protective and funny. When he would practice and stuff he would always make sure stories about how he was this big shot hero. I laugh to myself. He would come, he would save me.

The car stopped and I scrambled away from the door. I tried to steady my breathing as I heard them walk around the side of the car. I could see the mask in the window. That mask... that horrible mask. The door swung open and the two men that caught me were standing there. I stared at them, waiting for one of them to grab at me. He let out a low chuckle.

"C'mon, Sunshine... we don't have all day."

I refused to speak and pressed myself harder into the back of the car. He rolled his eyes and grabbed me by the neck of my jacket. I let out a squeal of protest and yanked myself out of his grasp. I turn back around and get out of the car reluctantly. I close my eyes trying to get used to the like. Being in Battery City is like stepping into an insane asylum. Everyone is crazy and everything is white. I start to blink but things are fading... what's going on... I'm... I'm...

"You're awake! Oh, thank god." I hear Hayley's voice.

"What? What happened?" I sit up quickly.

"The mask seems to have a bigger effect on you than others..."

"Yeah, sorry, just-"

"Bad memories, I know..." She cut me off with a smile.

I've always liked Hayley. She seemed to get me better than everyone else. She knew I wasn't some helpless girl with PTSD. No, she knew I was a very tough girl with PTSD. I think she had gone something I like I had... well maybe not exactly like me but something similar. She was a natural born leader and was at least 10 years older than I was. She was the one driving the truck that day. You know, that day.

I swing my legs over the side of the bed and stare at the ground.

"What're we gonna do?" I mumble.

"I was sorta hoping you could tell us that."

"Well, these guys aren't easy to take down, and they won't go down without a fight. I think we should leave a few people behind to hold them back and everyone else evacuates." I told her.

Hayley bit her lip but nodded.

"I know you're not going to like this but you need to get out now."

I grumble and look away from her. The sad part is know she's right.

"Look, the Killjoys wouldn't appreciate all their work for you to only to get captured again."

"I know! Okay, I know exactly how they would feel about that." I snap. I didn't appreciate when she used them against me. She put her hand on my back.

"I know how, you feel about this whole thing but you can't just hope they'll fly in at the last second to save you." She pointed out carefully.

"They're not gone! Stop talking about them like they're dead"

"Because they are!"

She stood up at that.

"Look I put up with your theory that the killjoys may be alive, but they aren't everyone knows that. Now go get ready to leave... that's an order." She said harshly.

I glared at her as I left. You know what, forget everything nice I told you about her, she's a bitch. I storm out of the med bay and head back to my bunk. I slam the door behind me and punch my pillow.

"Woah red hot, what'd Hayley say?"

"We're evacuating and I'm leaving..." I grumble to him.

"Woah! ROADTRIP!" He said excitedly.

"No, no, no I am going alone!"

"What? No you're not it's too dangerous."

"I am not afraid to walk this world alone." I say smiling to myself.

Brendon sat down next me.

"No way, red hot. We're in this together." He stated firmly.

"Brendon, I don't want to get you hurt. And people who travel with me... tend to get hurt." I say getting softer.

"Yeah I really don't care. We're besties." He says wrapping his pinky around mine "Together forever."

"Gross..." I say sticking out my tongue "Fine, you can come." I smile at him and he gives me his goofiest smile. Just then the alarm went off for everyone to prepare for an attack and evacuation. We stood and grabbed our prepared bags. When you come to an outpost, they make you prepare to evacuate at any moment. Convenient I know but this is my story so shut up.

We rushed out of our bunk and went to the gathering crowd around Hayley.

"Patrick, Joe, Pete, Andy, and I will stay behind and lead with Ryan, Spencer, and Dallon. We sent out a radio call for any help from the other outposts. Brendon!" She called out spotting us "You go with Rachel."

"Already planning on it." He said with a smirk.

"Good, now everyone. Go get ready to evacuate. Rachel Brendon get over here. Go!" Everyone dispersed and we came forward.

"I want you to take the west exit. It'll make it harder for them to find you." She said directing her attention at Brendon. I grind my teeth and answer for him.

"Got it let's go, Brendon." I grab his arm but before I can walk off Hayley grabs my other arm and takes me into a hug.

"Please stay safe." She murmurs in my ear before letting go and giving me a stern nod.

I step back a bit and look over a Brendon, who's smiling like a mad man.

"Let's just go." I grumble.

We ran out of the west exit and left on our journey.

You think I'm going to end the chapter there, all nice and dandy? Yeah we'll I'm not that night.

We ran until we couldn't run anymore and our lungs were on fire. A loud boom behind us made us turn and a muffled

"They went this way!"

Made my skin prickle. It was his voice. That man, he was the one who took me from them, he was the one who killed Poison. I had so much hatred towards this man, it's ridiculous.

"Brendon get out of here."

"I'm not leaving you."

"And I'm not giving you a choice, now go."

"Rach-!"

"GO!"

He glares at me and wraps me in a hug before running off.

Now it's just me.
