Chapter 38: Is She Ready?

*Two Days Later*

We stand outside Raini, Matthew, Trenton, and Castiel's house. Boston is standing out of view so we can surprise them. I knock, already aware that nine at night is way too late to be bothering the happy couples. Matt opens the door.

"What the hell are you doing here?"

"Are the others home too? I have something for you guys."

Soon enough, the four of them were standing in the doorway.

"I want to introduce someone to you."

I step aside and Boston walks into view. Raini gasps and runs to hug her sister, as does Matt. I watch as they reunite with joy. Trenton clears his throat.

"Is that a ring on your finger, Boston?"

"Um. No?"

"Don't lie to me, bitch! You left me alone. Now tell me who you're engaged to!"

"Fine, Raini!"

She points to me.

"Him?"

Then we recall the story of how we bumped into each other again.

A cry comes from upstairs.

"Would you go get the baby, Cas?"

He nods eagerly and vanishes.

"Baby?"

"You'll see."

Cas returns a few minutes later with the baby.

"Who's baby?"

Cas and Raini raise their hands.

"His name is Ryder."

"I have a nephew now too?"

They nod.

"And I missed it?"

Castiel hands Ryder over to Boston

"How old is he?"

"Five months."

"What took you guys so long? You were trying when I left you?"

"Actually..."

"What?"

Matt stands.

"Follow me and you'll see."

He led me and Boston upstairs. Boston's eyes dart around, taking in the open bedroom doors. Trenton, Castiel, and Matthew share a room with each other. Raini's bedroom door is open. A crib sits on one side of the room and her bed on the other. The other two bedrooms have signs on the doors. Matt opens the first door, revealing a set of bunk beds. Both beds are occupied. Boston whispers.

"How many kids do you guys have?"

"Three. Two girls and one boy."

"And I missed it all?"

"Yeah."

"What's the other girl's name?"

"Kate."

"Who's is she? How old?"

"She's Trenton and Raini's. Cas wasn't ready to have a baby just yet and Raini was horny. Nine months later, out popped Kate. She'll be five at the end of the month."

"Oh. So Ryder is Castiel's first kid?"

He nods and shuts the door. We walk back to the living room. Boston's fingers lace through mine. She squeezes gently and I smile. She rushes over to Raini. I lean up against the wall and Trenton walks over, handing me a beer.

"Happy birthday, man."

"Thanks."

"What are you guys planning on doing?"

I take a swig of beer before I speak.

"We just flew in today. We'll probably get some sleep when we get back to my place. Nothing special."

"Boston doesn't have anything planned?"

"We just got back together. I don't even think she remembers my birthday."

"I'll handle that."
