Shawn's family arrive soon after lunchtime and I'm still a mess. Ed, being it his turn on duty, showed the family to Shawn's room where I was still grasping on to his hand as I sit next to his bed.
As they all enter I'm sent a few scowls but Manny and Aaliyah send me weak smiles. His grandmother gives my hand a gentle squeeze and assures me everything will be okay but Karen too is a state. I hear whispering as I sit quietly, it comes from Karen and her sister; "Look what she's done Karen, I told you she was never good for him." I bite my lip as Karen begins to respond.
"She's one of the best things that have ever happened to him. She makes him happy like no one else can, I'll have you know that I wouldn't of allowed him to move in with her if she wasn't what she is." I sigh as people leave for food, Karen stays and manages a tiny curl in the corner of her mouth but I don't. I fall apart again, in front of my boyfriend's Mom.
"I'm so sorry," I cry and she hugs me close to her.
"You have done more than enough Arri, you should know that. It wasn't your fault and it never will be, trust me, it's gonna be difficult for the both of us but if we can get through this so can he. Now I'm pretty sure we can easily get another holiday booked for you two," I laugh slightly as we pull away.
"Sorry about that," I say and she shakes her head.
"Rather it be me than my sister."
"The one that hates me,"
"She doesn't like the fact you always look so perfect but I know for one thing, no one is. See, Shawn writes some number 1 hit single called stitches and look what happens to his head,"
"Very true," I reply, running my fingers up and down his hand.
"You love him a lot, don't you?" She asks and I nod.
"It's just taken me three years to figure out how much,"
"Karen, Arabella," Shawn's Aunt spits out; "It's ten past two. Do you want to join us for lunch?" Karen glares at her sister and nods whilst I shake my head.
"I've got to take some calls and I'd like to stay here. Thanks for the offer though,"
*2 weeks later*
Shawn's been out for two weeks. It's been the slowest, hottest two weeks of my life. Karen, Manny, Aaliyah and I are the only ones left.
It's been hard. Like real tough, the doctors come by everyday, repeating the same words every time.
"I'm afraid it's the same as yesterday. Time will tell," The doctor sighs and leaves.
"I sure hope it does," I mutter under my breath and Aaliyah manages a laugh as I shake my legs.
"Jesus, it's so warm. Who knew sitting in a hospital for 2 weeks could give you such a tan?" Manny says and I smile at him. However, some good things have come out of this. Your guide to better health, 2 week detox of Internet. No one knows. That's the best thing. We're not going to get constantly asked about it. We'll pretend it never happened.
"Can you imagine if he's heard all this," Karen says and we all begin to laugh.
"It'd be a brilliant headline though; Shawn Mendes needs stitches." Aaliyah speaks and I see grins appear on our faces.
"Shawn Mendes needs air," Manny says.
"Don't you bring me into this," I warn defensively.
"Shawn Mendes faces the aftertaste," Karen comes up with and I nod.
"We all thought he'd be the life of the party," I state as I look at his still body.
"So Arri, how's it living with Shawn?"
"How many Hogwarts shirts does he own?! I'm pretty sure I had five in the wash at once,"
"Oh honey, it doesn't get any easier," Karen assures me.
"Okay, now you're being rude." Manny buts in.
"You try tidying up after yourself," Karen says.
"Okay, yep, I see exactly where you're coming from,"
"See,"
"Wait! Did Shawn just move his hand?" Aaliyah asks and my eyes dart to his bed where his once straight arm had now bent.
"We'll go get the doctor," The other three rush out the room and I move my chair closer to the bed.
"Shawn, please tell me you're gonna wake up now. I don't think I can go much longer, please wake up. I know you like to sleep but this is getting a bit unhealthy," I press a kiss on his cheek, and then lift his knuckles to my lips and kiss them gently before dropping my arm so our hands lay on the bed. I feel something squeeze my hand. "Shawn, we're nearly there. You're nearly awake. Keep going," I speak to myself as I feel him hold my hand tighter. "I thought that I'd been hurt before," I sing out and watch as he begins to react more as I sing.
I watch as his eyes open and he sees me. "A! I've been looking for you," His voice is croaky but it's there.
"I'm here now," I say and rub my fingers over his hand and he smiles.
"Where have I been?"
"That doesn't matter right now," I reply and we both lean towards each other so we're centimetres apart.
His lips reach mine and set my body on fire with something I haven't felt in a long time. His hands hold my face as I kiss him passionately, I pull away and he stares at me.
"I love you," He says and I grin widely.
"I lo-"
"Mr Mendes! You're awake!" The doctor enters and I pull away from him although he reaches for my hand which I let him hold as they go through all of the tests.
"1 question," Shawn says as the doctor leaves. "Why am I in a hospital?"
"Shawn Mendes needs stitches,"
"Shawn Mendes needs air,"
"Shawn Mendes faces the aftertaste,"
"We all thought he'd be the life of the party," We state consecutively and Shawn looks at us weirdly.
"What are you on? Why am I in hospital? The last thing I remember is being on the beach-"
"Passed out and on the ground," I finish.
"You've been in a coma sweetie," Karen tells him and his jaw drops.
"For how long?" His grip on my hand soon becomes very tight.
"2 weeks," I answer and his eyes widen.
"You mean, you guys flew out to Nashville?"
"No Shawn, we flew out to Spain."
"F***-"
"Language,"
Shawn's POV:
"I'm gonna go get some lunch, you guys catch up." A stands and although I want to stop her from going she's out of the door quickly.
"A's been with you all the time," Aaliyah tells me. "She wouldn't leave you,"
"Woah," I state.
"She's an amazing girl Shawn," Mom enters the conversation.
"I know,"
"Shawn, I think she's feeling out of place." Dad opens a new subject.
"How?"
"Shawn, we're here. You haven't been together for two weeks. Well, both being conscious,"
"Yeah, exactly. When you get home take her out or something like that, make up for the two weeks you've missed."
Arri's POV:
I need to get out of here. I text Aaliyah to tell her I was going out to eat. I'm not going to eat but just to make them less worried. Instead, I walk down to the beach, then to the water's edge. It was a busy Saturday but no one seemed to recognise me for any reason.
"Arri!" I hear Aaliyah running after me after a while.
"How did you know I was here?" "Shawn told me the only place you knew here was the beach and the resort, so you couldn't have gone out to eat for anything;" I sigh as she speaks.
"Shawn, is getting discharged from the hospital at the moment, coming?"
"I'll be at our room,"
I walk back to our room in the resort and let myself in and walk over to my suitcase and begin to pack as we're leaving tomorrow. I hear a knock ring through the door and open it. Shawn doesn't say anything but picks me up and spins me around.
"Well hello to you too," I say and laugh as he puts me down.
"I missed you babe,"
"I missed you more Shawn, I love you." I tell him as he holds me in his arms.
"I love you too A,"
