Chapter 20

The kids were sat in the lounge watching the Grinch as me and Shawn, well I wrapped presents.
Someone knocks on the door and I go to get it as Shawn checks on the kids. Behind the door stood my Aunt Ruth, Uncle James and cousins Tom and Lily.
"Merry Christmas!" They cheered and I laughed.
"Hello!" Shawn grins as he walks back in. "Do you have Summer and Finn's milk?"
"Somewhere, route around a bit."
"How many people are you looking after today?" Tom asks.
"6 kids, they're parents, apart from one, are all suffering with hangovers so Ed decided it would be fun to employ me to deal with Shawn and their kids." I explain and he nods his head as Shawn chats with the other 3 and makes drinks.
"Lil, Ev's in the other room with Soph if you want to go see them,"
"Okay," She runs off and I hear Ev shout; "Lily!"
We chat for ages and they offer for us o go out with them tonight. "Uh, Shawn have you recovered?"
"I think so,"
"Well we'll invite Andrea and Scott but I'm presuming Taylor will want a night in."
"Probably, and if you're going to visit Austin, be aware that Liv's pregnant and they're engaged."
"Okay, thank you! Lily honey!"
"She can stay here if she wants," I say and she looks at me; "7 kids is a lot A."
"Pfft, it'll be fine. I've got one meeting here with someone but we're just gonna let them play in the lounge. We'll get her changed and ready and bring her with us."
"Fine, but call us if anything goes wrong." James tells me and I nod before hugging them all before they leave.
"Arri, Maddie here." I hear her message up the telecom thingy.
For a while I've been working on a clothing range in New Look (British shop but let's pretend it's everywhere).
She walks in with the A3 folder of designs and we place them all on the table with fabric samples and everything else.
We choose a load of new designs and then she leaves as I get a knock at the door. I open it and outside stands a little girl.
"Please help! My Mommy's collapsed, I need help!"
"Okay, stay calm. Shawn!"
"Yeah what?"
"This little girls Mom's collapsed, can you go over there and I'm gonna call Evie to stay with the kids and I'll call the emergency services."
"Okay," He dashes out of the door with the small girl at his heel.
Evie is over in seconds and I call the ambulance and rush over to the apartment to see Shawn placing the woman in the recovery position and checking her airways. A little boy walks into the corridor and starts to cry.
"That's my brother Thomas," The girl whimpers and I place my arm around her and pick up the little boy.
"It'll be okay," I say, grabbing the girls hand and walking her into my apartment as I could see the scene was scaring them. I sit them at the breakfast bar and check the time; 5:30. "Have you eaten?"
"No, Mommy was about to make dinner when she collapsed."
"Okay, I'll make some pasta for you, okay?"
"Thank you very much,"
"That's no problem, Lily, Ev!"
"Yeah Arri," They chorus.
"Go and get changed, we're going out for dinner soon. I'll sort out Maya in a minute,"
"Alright, who are they?" Ev points at the boy and girl.
"They're Mommy's had an accident so Shawn is sorting her out now and I'm making them some dinner,"
"Oh, hello! My name's Lily and this is Evelyn!" Lily introduces herself and I see Shawn walk in a second later.
"We're contacting the grandmother, the paramedics are taking care of her."
"Okay, thank you." I say as I dish up the pasta.
"No problem," He smiles and takes the kids in the lounge more drinks. The hungover party should be here in a minute.
The two children, who's names are Amelia and Thomas devour their dinner thank me politely.
"All my friends children are in there if you want to go and see the den they've made." I offer as they run off as Shawn walks in again.
"Tired babe?" He pulls me into a spontaneous hug and I nod, resting my head on his chest.
"Love you," He whispers kissing the top of my head. Finn's cries break the brief quiet and I run in to see him crying as Sophie holds his head.
"What happened?!"
"He banged his head," April tells me and I scoop him up.
He cries into my shirt and Shawn gets ice from the freezer which we wrap in a towel and place on his head. Eventually everyone gets here and I feel like crying I'm that exhausted.
They leave and I practically fall onto the sofa. I close my eyes in need of sleep.
"Sleeping beauty," Shawn shakes me and I hear giggles.
"Kiss her!" Ev says so I feel something come closer and closer to me. It hovers over me as his finger grazes over my cheek in a bid to move some of my hair.
"Hurry up! I want dinner!" Ev says impatiently and Lily laughs as I feel Shawn turn away. His presence returns and his lips land on mine softly, his hand holding my jaw lightly. He pulls away and my eyes flutter open. The girls cheer and Shawn pulls me up and kisses my forehead.
"Yay! Now go and get changed sissy!"
"Okay," I sigh and get changed before returning. I changed into black tights with a tartan printed dress and black heels. We begin to walk outside to Shawn's car and I start to shiver.
"You didn't bring a jacket did you?" Shawn says as the girls run ahead and Maya clings on to my hand.
"Mm,"
"Here," Shawn peels off his hoodie and helps me get it on as several cameras flash. He pulls an extra one out the boot as I lift Maya into his jeep. I help the girls in too and check their seatbelts before getting in too.
The kids sing to Christmas songs as I stare out the window.
"There are 3 days to Christmas," I sigh, as Shawn keeps his eyes on the road.
"And,"
"I'm excited but so tired too, I don't know if I'll last. Work's been so stressful,"
"Chill A, we'll have a day together tomorrow. Get your mind off things," He places a hand on my knee as he parks and tilts my chin towards him so I look him in the eye.
"Let's go have a good time, and forget about everything okay?"
"Fine," I agree and smile at him.
We get into the restaurant and sit down and talk amongst everyone, even Austin and Liv have come.
"You look gorgeous!" Liv gushes.
"Don't tell me that,"
"I'd love to be able to wear something like that but I have a human inside me. So tight clothing is a no."
"Awe, if only it could hear you now."
"Don't even go there,"
"9 kids I had today, 9!"
"Holy crap,"
"I had Karlie's twins; Finn and Summer, Abi's girls- Soph and April, Mom's kids; Maya and Ev then Lily then two kids next door because they're Mom collapsed."
"Yup, little one you're so an only child," She places a hand on her bump.
Shawn was right chilling is a good thing.
