My mother and I walk outside and stand in the garden.

"First before I show you any of your powers, you need to first awaken them." She said.

"What do you mean? Awaken them?"

"Yes dear, some powers are there since birth, but your powers must be awakened and used."

"Alright then." I replied.

"Now, close your eyes and think of the the strongest emotion you have. What is it?"

I think for a moment. Happiness? No way, that's probably like a once in a lifetime thing for me. Sadness? Well I do get sad a lot, but I don't think it's my strongest emotion.

Anger? Yes. Definitely.

"So what is it?" She asks.

"Anger." I reply.

She thinks for a moment.

"Yes, that makes sense. Not because of your life, or experiences, but because it's part of your powers." She says. I'm really confused so I ask her,

"What do you mean it's part of my powers?"

"All of our family's powers are the same, but are charged by, and let out by different emotions. We can use our powers whenever we want, but it is the strongest when we reach that certain emotion." Ohhh, that makes sense.

"So anger will be my emotion?"

"Yes." She replied.

"So what is your emotion?" I ask.

"My emotion is Sadness. When I left the mortal world, I went into what you call depression. That's when my powers were at their peak, and that's how I built this castle."

"So our powers are ice, snow and 'cold' things?" I ask.

"No, the power of Winter." She replies.

Woahhhhh, that is really cool, and really creepy at the same time.

"Now, we must awaken your powers Scarlette." She says.

I'm scared for what could happen, but I reply anyway.

"Okay."

"Alright, first you have to close your eyes again. And then you have to feel your emotion, anger."

I close my eyes and try to feel as angry as possible. Nothing happens so I open my eyes to my frustrated mother.

"Scarlette, you have to feel angrier than you've ever been! Think about your father! Think about your old life! Think about how I left you! Think about your bullies!" She yells while frantically waving her hands around.

After all that I feel so angry, that I wanna open my eyes and just snap, but keep them closed and my hands quickly turn into fists.

"Yes Scarlette! You're doing it!"

That only angers me more and I open my eyes about to kill something but I'm confused when I see that I'm surrounded by jagged pieces of ice.

Woah.

"Scarlette you did it!" She exclaimed and gave me a big hug. I stand still.

I hesitantly hug her back and look over at what I did. She pulls away and says

"Don't worry, you won't ever do that again. Now that your powers have been awakened, you can use them normally now."

So I try aiming at one of the statues, and a blast of ice shoots out of my hand and hits it square in the face. I do a quick fist pump and my mother laughs. I try it out again multiple times, and when I get used to it, I go to Crescent and play with her.

I even made her an icicle but when she licked it, her tongue got stuck. I couldn't stop laughing until she started to growl then I helped her get it off.

I play around for a bit more, making snow, ice and cold wind. "Scarlette, I have something to show you now." My mother says in a serious tone. I immediately get worried.

"Okay, I'm coming," I reply wearily.

We walk into the castle and we reach a door that I haven't seen yet. My mother puts her hand on the handle and pushes.
