ROSE'S POV-
"An accident?" I repeated. ""I-I-It's Al. He's been attacked." She said her voice breaking at the end. My heart shattered. Attacked. Al had been attacked. I tried to comprehend the words but couldn't. That's when a horrible thought popped into my head. Lucius. He could have done this. I put my head in my hands and started to shake. I wasn't crying though. Just shaking at a violent speed. "I'm going to go get Scorpius." Exclaimed Hugo in a weak voice.
A few minutes later I felt two arms wrapping themselves around my waist. "Rose you need to calm down. We don't even know what happened and I know what you're thinking. We have no idea if it was Lucius. You need to sit up and listen to Lily. This is hard for her too." Scorpius murmured in my ear. I nodded and sat up.
"What happened." I croaked. Lily seemed unable to speak so James took over. "According to Alice, he was walking back from your common room right next to her. They were talking until someone pulled him out from underneath the invisibility cloak. She said she couldn't see anyone but Al started thrashing and screaming. Blood started shooting out from all directions of his body. Alice was smart and got help but he's not doing good." He finished in a shaky voice.
I inhaled sharply. "Where is he?" I asked in a quiet voice. "St Mungo's." Fred answered. "Well what are we waiting for. Let's go." I replied. They all nodded and we headed up to McGonagall's office to floo over. I grasped Scorpius's hand firmly in mine and started to walk. "It's going to be ok." He whispered to where only I could hear. I nodded and kept walking. We all flooed over and weren't surprised to see a mob of red heads with the exception of two black, two blonde, and one blue, crowding the waiting room.
I rushed over to aunt Ginny and Uncle Harry. Both of their eyes were red rimmed and puffy. "Where is he? I need to see him." I said urgently. "Rose, I really don't think that's a good idea." Said Aunt Ginny. "Please." I begged. They looked at each other and and nodded. "He's in room 394." Said Aunt Ginny. I nodded and pulled Scorp along with me.
We reached the room and I stopped. "This is my fault." I said, guilt sweeping over me. "How could this be your fault?" He asked. "He came over to our common room to comfort me. If he hadn't come, then none of this would have happened." I said, tears starting to gather in my eyes. "If this is anyone's fault, it's mine. I'm the reason Al came to check on you. You were upset about me. This is my fault." He said in a small voice. "Scorp-" he interrupted me. "No, let's just stop. I don't want to think about this anymore. We should be glad he's alive. Let's go in and see him." He replied.
I nodded and twisted the door handle. I inhaled a sharp, shaky breath. Laying before me, hooked up to tubes pumping hundreds up healing potions, was Al. He looked awful. His skin was tinted a deadly white. He had one black eye and cuts up and down his whole body. That's when I broke down. My body started shaking as it had earlier. Tears flowed down my cheeks. I rushed over to the chair next to Al's cot and grabbed his hand.
"Hey Al. It me, Rose. I know that you probably can't hear me, but you need to wake up. You really, really, need to wake up. You're my best friend in the entire universe and I just don't know what I'd do without you. I'm sorry. I feel like this is my fault. If you hadn't come to check on me. I'm sorry. I'm so, so bloody sorry Al." I said through tears.
Scorpius sat down next to me and rubbed circles onto my back. I lay my head on his shoulder and sobbed. After a little while my tears dried up and I wiped my eyes. "I'm sorry, I need to get it together." I said still attempting to wipe away my remaining tears. "Rose, we should probably go sit in the waiting room. Other people might want to see him." Said Scorp quietly. I nodded and stood up.
We walked out the door and were stopped by my dad and Uncle Harry. "We need to talk. In private." My dad commanded. We followed them both into an empty hospital room. "Sir, if you'd listen, we think we know what happened." Offered Scorpius politely. "Well we have have our own guesses too. But before we start talking we should probably put some protective charms around the room so nobody from the outside can hear us." Stated Uncle Harry. Him and my father proceeded to put several different spells and charms around the perimeter of the room. "So back to what I was saying, we can all agree that what happened to Al was the work of Lucius. But why would he hurt him if he still thinks Scorpius is fully committed to him. Have you two let anything slip?" Asked my dad quizzically. "Dad, we've been extremely careful. The only two people we've told about anything are Al and Alice, which, we know we can trust. I do have a question though. How could Lucius or whoever attacked Al have seen through the invisibility cloak?" I asked.
"Well, upon further investigation, we've discovered that the invisibility cloak was in fact, not, the invisibility cloak. Someone switched it with an exact replica, except for it didn't make anyone invisible. So, when Al and Alice put it on, they had no way of knowing that everyone could see them walking the halls beneath a normal cloak. Which of of course, no one except the attacker did because it was the middle of the night. The person who switched the two cloaks made it to where Al and Alice could still see threw the faux cloak so they wouldn't suspect a thing. It seems that the person who switched the cloaks hid under the real invisibility cloak to attack Al. But I don't see anyway that this could have been Lucius." Finished Uncle Harry.
I could tell how hard this was for him. I had always heard him and my parents say how much they didn't want any of their own kids to go through the same awful things they did.
"Stupid fake invisibility cloak." I muttered under my breath. Everyone choose to ignore my comment and continued. "So if we don't think it could have been Lucius, then who was it?" Asked Scorpius. "Well, we don't exactly know. We suspect it's someone working on the inside." My dad answered. "You mean, someone in the school?" I said with a gasp. "Exactly. We think there's someone else helping Lucius. But that's where Scorpius comes in. Scorpius, you need to talk to Lucius and ask him if he has anymore spy's." Demanded Uncle Harry. Scorp nodded. "Of course. I'll talk to him next time I see him, which should be on Tuesday. He'll know something's up if I ask to see him earlier." Replied Scorp. We finished talking and left to sit in the waiting room.
With talking to my dad and and Uncle, I had almost forgotten what had actually happened to Al. Memories flooded through my mind of what had happened one of the last times I was here in this very waiting room. Scorp had fallen from a broomstick and I had fallen asleep against Al. Now, I found myself doing the exact same thing but against Scorp.
Why did my life have to be so jacked up?
Hey guys! I honestly think that this might be one of my favorites! hope you all enjoy! XOXO
